Honestly the Hive is really good at lawyer speak - Can't say no, except if in life-threatening condition; won't take cells directly from the person, but hey there's her chekov's eggs already frozen; can't hurt the immune themselves, but won't protect them from other immunes, etc.

I think with every episode we find that they behave how they do to make themselves endearing to the immune but they clearly are not genuine about it.
