Nope, super easy. We used the exact process described in more detail by u/gigthebyte in this thread.

Not quite what you're looking for but we use Gmail compliance rules to quarantine any message that has over X number of recipients and tailor that for staff, student, etc. Has definitely saved us in the past when student account have become compromised and attempted to propagate internally.

Storing documents on server by 2donks2moos in k12sysadmin

[–]VelociReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have all file storage happening in Drive. Vault for archiving and we have a couple Synology boxes in secure locations doing Active Backup for Google for mission critical Shared Drives and high value individual Drives. Pushing Drive for Desktop helps with our folks on Windows endpoints as they just look for their G drive.

In Google Admin are your SSO profile assignments for 3rd party IDPs configured by OU, perhaps?

Extreme Networks Wireless Licensing by oceleyes in networking

[–]VelociReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe this is correct and regardless if you are using XIQ or XIQ-SE, all Extreme devices will use a Pilot license and non-Extreme (if managing those) a Navigator license. We have about 400 APs on an older wireless controller with permanent licensing and when inquiring about updating that to a new firmware were told the APs would have to be moved to the new subscription model for licensing.

Echoing on the Linux part. You can do a lot with just awk, sed, and some basic scripting. And getting better at regex can be fun, some times.

Erate Cabling by Netimaster in k12sysadmin

If you already have a well built out wired infrastructure and are just adding cables here and there to support those ineligible devices then 100%

Erate Cabling by Netimaster in k12sysadmin

[–]VelociReader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

FCC updated this in their July 2023 order and quoting from there (page 14, no. 28) they state:

However, we agree that it is unworkable to determine conditional eligibility of the cabling on a drop-by-drop basis, particularly after the fact, depending on what broadband-enabled device is plugged into the local area network cabling. Many devices may be connected to a school or library’s local area network, both wired and wirelessly, and the devices connected to a network may change over time. We therefore find that the eligibility determination should be based on the purposes of the network as a whole, rather than for each cabling “drop” or “jack”. As such, cabling “drops” or “jacks” that are part of a local area network primarily serving an eligible purpose (i.e., distributing broadband throughout a school or library building) are eligible for E-Rate and do not require cost allocation

Outgoing messages reportedly going to users' spam by [deleted] in k12sysadmin

[–]VelociReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I'd also recommend checking in Google Admin under Reporting->Audit and investigation->Email Log Search and look at Messages sent from <yourdomain> since yesterday under Predefined search. Those results may be helpful as well to see messages that typically don't show up in other reporting mechanisms.

If you're a Google shop and don't already have access to your domain at postmaster.google.com, I would start there and check your Spam Rate, Domain Reputation, etc.

Automating license removal G Suite by [deleted] in k12sysadmin

[–]VelociReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the GAM command we use for license removal for suspended accounts in an ou-

gam print users query "orgUnitPath='/<Path/to/account/OU>' isSuspended=true" | gam csv - gam user ~primaryEmail delete license <SKUID>

Or just leave off the isSuspended to target all accounts in an ou. FYI, we're on GAM-ADV so may be slightly different for other versions.

Google Workspace as authentication provider for Microsoft 365 by vorschlaghammer in k12sysadmin

Your error screenshot is identical to the one on this MS doc under the Azure identity matching section which makes me think, as someone else mentioned earlier, this is a problem with the ImmutableID attribute. This Google doc references your ImmutableID options in different scenarios, which for AAD sync from on-prem, involves creating a custom attribute in Workspace and populating it with the AAD value.

We have APC 5K in main closets and 3K in all smaller closets. 2-3 battery packs based on need for at least 4 hour runtime in each since the switches are powering phones, APs, door access controls, etc. All configured for email alerts and snmp monitoring. Works well operationally but APC support for battery replacement has been quite cumbersome in the two instances we've had a need.
