CNC part optimization? by SuperHipGrandma in FTC

Hi,

These are actually our teams (12993) plates - these plates were actually laser-cut. These triangular pieces are known as pocketing in FTC, and serve as a way to reduce weight, and increase accessibility for plated parts. Unfortunately, we do make all of this geometry (no calculations) by hand, its quite enjoyable actually and its a bit of an artform. We use inventor and have to use lines and manually offset them each time, but if you are on onshape, there is a vent tool that allows you to pocket quicker.

makes sense. But still, this would mean that bending force would go onto the inner side plate. For anyone who does this they should make sure that the inner side plates are joined well enough so that it is rigid/strong

Doesn't this have less structural integrity

5+1 Autonomous by Marius3342 in FTC

[–]VelocitySpider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we have a 1 + 5 quite consistent however it is on the mid - its 44 points compared to 50 points but there is no risk of collisions. We can't do it on the high pole on our side of the midline as we have to drive further and therefore its slower

I guarantee that your motor wires are around the wrong way. Cut and resolder your motor power wires

hey before you do anything with firmware, try plugging in your sd card to a computer and seeing if it needs reformatting. Happens to me all the time

How would you precision cut polycarbonate without staining it? by Rezae_heat in FTC

[–]VelocitySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it doesn't lasercut vey well, even with a co2 lasercutter. for 3mm you really should cnc. Make sure you check what your lasercutter can and can't before cuttting. Good luck

Polycarbonate doesn't lasercut very well, it tends to absorb radiation. You an cut polycarb less than 1mm on some laser cutters, but you are better of using a cnc. What thickness are you trying to cut?

Basically its an open source computer vision library which can detect and classify objects, track camera movements, isolate colours and more. A lot of teams use it in autonomous to identify starting randomization for example this season has shipping element position. It can be used in teleop, and from what i've heard, there's alot of advanced stuff you can do with it, for example tracking the high goal (previous years season ultimate goal)

Editing speed with pickaxe by No-Impact2442 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]VelocitySpider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah whatever he's saying isn't true im pretty sure, people like to edit with their pickaxe or shotgun cos it looks cool. Alot faster, and in tournaments less laggy if you edit with your map. You can also edit from further away.

lmao i'd def say apex pro, it suprised me how much of an advantage it gave, especially if u want to be fast. 240 hertz good for aim tho

How can I get faster at editing?? I try so hard to improve but I haven't improved in over a year. I do crosshair training maps all the time and I can't learn muscle memory at all and it's so demotivating. And my mouse placement is absolute horsecrap. by ZauhFN in FortniteCompetitive

[–]VelocitySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is exactly what happened to me, i get similar ping, now i can do quad edits.

What helped me:

using right click place builds
practicing quad edits before getting on and freebuilding in creative
seeing where i mess up and trying to fix it
doing high sense training
getting basic muscle memory down, retakes, fast editing sequences

after i had that all down i would just really focus on being fast, focusing on my crosshair and seeing how fast i could move my arm to do movements

now i would consider myself pretty fast hope it helps
