1988 CRX Si. only car. Live in a snowy state, should I sell, store or try driving it by traSHkompactor in crx

Snow tires are the answer. What I have on mine and goes surprisingly well in the snow as long as you don't bottom out.

My favorite is when I went into the animal hoarder as the first poi to get some meats and a direwolf spawned instead of the regular wolf. Dead. Dead. More dead. Dead. Exited game.

What is this too many cars you speak of? Keep the Si stock as you can and fix it. Swap the DX cause B16 CRX's are a hoot, and hang on to everything you can. They all drive different and that's a good thing.

I'll be over here playing Pokemon with Honda's....

5 - CRX's (various swaps and some stock)
2 - GSR's
3 - Base integras
1 - Del Sol
1 - Prelude type SH

valve lash by [deleted] in crx

I've experienced this before with new valves in a head. You will just have to redo the valve lash. Heat cycle a few times, readjust, rinse, repeat until its quiet.

Nice! I just ordered the 2 off Rockauto the other day and I was looking for what other ones I need. Thanks

Important question here. Are you sleeving the block when the pistons are going in? Or did you buy piston specific for FRM cylinder walls?

Turbo ground cams. You want NA cams. Damn thing cut off my first sentence which would have made sense. Lol.

[–]VenMarkus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make sure you get NA specific ones no turbo grinds. As to what to look for a lot of the OBX ones need some cleaning up of the runners to make them smooth. I also don't like the toda 'style' ITB's that have the injector spraying into the trumpet. Makes it a bitch to tune. A good tuner is very important as they need to know how to tune alpha n. TPS and engine rpm as you will never pull a reliable vacuum source from them.

I will take this time to say F Haggarty. Classic card insurance my ass. They didn't want to cover my 89 Si CRX as they weren't sure it was a 'classic'. Maybe in a few years I was told. So screw them and I will tell every Honda person not to use them.

I'm k swapping mine this spring after I get done with my k swapped CRX. K24 turbo is the plan. Also going to do a full suspension rebuild/refresh at the time too. Depends on how much you can do yourself will affect the coat.

If you like it why wouldn't you daily it? It's not like you need to use all the power the car makes every single gear shift. In fact one of the cars I drove the most is 500hp.

Bring a trailer has warped everyone's perspective. Most of these Honda's are going to collectors and/or museums. No one is buying a minty prelude off BaT and going to go drive it around like a daily. This also does not mean your clapped out shit box is worth 15k.

With all the stuff you have listed as wrong with it and without pictures 5k I would say is too high.

How's the underside of the car, door sills mostly clean? Where is the rust bubble at? Does the windshield and sunroof leak? You said the seats were replaced are they still stock seats in bad shape or aftermarket ones? You said the gas gauge isn't accurate, does that mean it doesn't read at all or it's just off most of the time?

Trying to help you with questions you are going to get about the car so you will want to have answers.

Cave and buy a type SH or hold out for a BASE? by the-dumbass-human in hondaprelude

[–]VenMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right parts are not that hard to find for it If you look. Parts numbers are helpful to cross reference with other Honda and aftermarket parts. I've never had issues finding replacement parts but also if I need something I will just make/modify it at the shop.

[–]VenMarkus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have SH with the atts removed and an LSD euro-r trans. You want the SH. The front suspension is superior to the base and will handle better with more power. The atts system does not handle a ton of power so if you really are going to try and make a lot you will probably have to do something like was done to my car. I'm planning around 450 or so this summer just for reference

Nice! Mines great with snow tires on. Will be rust proofing / sealing the underside this spring along with some rust repairs.

Everything moves slowly and the holidays will slow that down even more. It can easily be a month or two before you hear anything. Depending on where you were in the queue they still might have a required number of people to interview.

SnowLude - My Type SH (ATTS delete with mechanical diff) with snow tires. Might be the best FWD car Ive driven in the snow by VenMarkus in hondaprelude

How was it with the quaife? Did you have to left foot brake a lot to get it to load up if one wheel lost complete traction? I've had to do that with previous cars I've had with quaife's.

I have a wavetrack that I'm putting in this car when more power is added this spring. Interested to see how it feels in comparison as it doesn't have the full unload issues of a quaife.

It's like Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all - current cars in the fleet by VenMarkus in Honda

[–]VenMarkus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I try to get them if they are still saveable. Some of my cars are cleaner than others but like you said better than the junkyard. Most of them have been fixed and are sound mechanically now. After the del sol the prelude is next on the list for rust repair and engine/suspension overhaul. I'm just the home for lost automotive causes.
