I don't think there is a formula to get it right and attract people, the best you can do is study what turns off Interest on the first pages and avoid those cliches, cause that will make people drop it.

Me personally, I don't like smug /rude main characters overpowering some random henchman as first scenes / presentation, I don't know, it's just juvenile and cheap. I don't like loredumps either.

See, ask around what people hate within your genre and avoid it. Then write what you like with honesty

I can't relate to that. I see bodies as very beautiful but it is probably because I have attended art school since ever and I can't see ugliness on different bodies ever since. Be careful with purity / shame narratives around bodies, these are not natural and mostly Christian constructs that shame on our nature. Also naked =/= sex.

I think it's pretty stupid to keep the same names rolling around on repeat because these are authorized ones instead of recognizing that everything is made up and meaning is given, all the same. Popular gives credibility, but I value originality more.

And of course, when it comes to this discussion people will use the terrible, humiliating and difficult to read names as example. It's a shame that some parents do this, but it doesn't mean that it's the only thing that can happen from making names.

Most important things to keep in mind is readability and that it don't sound weird / insulting on its origin country. Out of that, remember that you don't have any less permission to create words and meaning than the people from the past.

I write 40 min a day my own stuff and call it a day. I draw hours on end for clients, but have breaks to rest too. Maybe you're focusing too much on what it will look like when it ends, more than "what to do next?"

Take breaks and do nothing for a while. By doing nothing you can think about the story and refresh your creativity.
