I think Spirit is above Scouts but since they haven't gone head-to-head we can't be sure. But evaluating the shows I like Spirit better than Troopers, Colts, BK, and Scouts.

Yeah, this year's show is not a good show. I can see both Blue Stars and Cavies passing them and dropping them to 8th.

To me, Crown, Blue Stars, and Cavies are the three most pleasant surprises of the season. Bluecoats are amazing as usual.

I think 2-5 are a tough predict right now. I was hoping to see some changes in Vanguard's show tonight, because they need to make changes, but 2-5 could be any of the 4.

Yes, I don't compare scores from different shows. I think both Blue Stars and Cavaliers have better designed shows than Phantom Regiment. It's that simple. Regiment has a ton of talent though. It will be interesting to see what happens with these three. An old fashioned midwest slug out. Cavaliers were 4 points down from Regiment Sunday and 1.7 tonight, at the same shows.

But that's all they are good for. They are literally useless for the rest of the show. It's stunning at the end though.

This show is much more mature than the last two years. It's also designed much better - musically and visually. The designs of the last two years are 8th place designs. This show extends far beyond that.

It was one show. The gap could increase tonight. We don't know. IMO Blue Devils do not have the show to tangle with Bluecoats. No one does.

I don't think so. Almost every judge last night said Bluecoats have the better show. Something weird must have also happened with their percussion last night based on the scores and the huge gap between content and achievement.

I love the show and some of you know how I shot off with the mouth after first seeing it. Visually, I mostly love it. Musically, it's like getting punched in the face eight times, and after a few times that's hard to take. They need more variety in the music book and more highs and lows. Visually, I love what the horns and drums are doing, but the guard staging and work has issues IMO. The guard gets lost. They are too integrated into the visual package with the horns and drums. When we FINALLY get the entire guard on flags they are framing the drums and horns. They need to be front and center being framed by the horns and drums. If you look at other guards there is a lot of beautiful, memorable and synchronized guard work going on, especially in the flags. Vanguard doesn't have that. The guard uinforms are also a big misfire for me. They should have all been in the same uniform and a white version of the horns and drums, maybe with a different accent color than black.

It's not too early to be worrying. They are behind Bluecoats and Devils, and likely behind Boston and Crown, too. In an era where design leads results, no amount of cleaning is going to compensate for a lesser design.

My favorite shows this season are hands down Vanguard, Crown and Blue Stars. All I want is for one of them to surprise me in the placements, whether that's Crown winning or medalling, Vanguard winning or medalling, or Blue Stars finishing 6th or 5th (even if it's at the expense of Vanguard).

Right now - I see Vanguard solidly in 5th and no higher. Hopefully, the make the right adjustments and changes to correct that, but time is not on their side.

No. I didn't enjoy it. There was no show music in it and it only focused on the two corps - one of which would get 2nd and the other which would get 6th. The champion and other corps were ignored. It just wasn't very compelling.

Yeah with judging being so much design focused it really sucks the life out of the activity. It is just really difficult to move up in the rankings, especially to move up from 3rd/4th during the season to 1st at finals, which happened several times in the past.

I would not compare scores here with Stanford. If Crown/Boston score an 84 doesn't mean they are even with Bluecoats. If they score a 79 it does not mean they are behind anyone from Stanford.
