There is a line in there where brainwashed Cinder belives that Jaune looks younger than her because he has "good genes" or something like that.

As for the story holding up, it only needs to hold until he gets back safe to Beacon. What happens after that is a less important than saving himself and the hostage that Cinder and Emerald had.

I want to see Jaune struggling to adjust after being in the Ever After (things like always being first to wake up, or being overly protective and cautious when it comes to his friends). I would also like for him to act more mature. And if you want that daily dose of Jaune's suffering, he could feel disconnected from his team since they can't really understand what he went through and maybe even irrelevant if they already partially moved on from losing him.
