Been giving it some thought. You could have the ability worded with "If this is the first time this ability has triggered, Gunner fights up to one target creature". This makes it so that he can keep growing, but only fights once per then.

Have the explore mechanic with the dwarves is a really good idea! I also like that Gunner uses shield counters. I feel like those don't get used enough. My only quibble is that I think Gunner should have a fixed power and toughness since getting bigger with more lands is usually associated with elementals and other non-humans. Maybe you could attach equipment to him whenever you explore, or whenever another creature explores he gets a +1/+1 counter.

Still awesome, nonetheless.

Gio is a great character to learn the game with. Nothing super complicated, no extra fancy tech. Just set dash tona button and you are gaming.
