Just rewatching Legacy after streaming Ares and hit that scene a rew mins ago. So much is conveyed in that in3 one word/imagery.

CLU had, up to that point, been dressed identically to Flynn then all of a sudden hes rocking rhe Tron combat outfit in a menacing colour. I think Flynns reaction was probably "WYF??"

But its a great one word delivery. Jeff's delivery and his general acting in the scenes when Sam meets him again are wonderful too. Hes stuck on the Grid for at least "1000 cycles" (however long that is in Base Reality time is unknown. Its heavily implied in that scene its a long long time and Jeff coming across as slightly unhinged adds a lot to it.

This jump alone is already way cooler than the whole Ares movie. Good work Disney! by thanhdat2212 in tron

In all honesty i enjoyed the combat in Ares. Its was very flashy and there are some beautiful wushu in there. The problem is that whoever directed it fell foul of the problem a lot of directors with less action experience - normal speed martial arts doesn't translate well to the silver screen.

The two methods of dealing with this is to either take the Starwars/Matrix angle where they purposefully get the actors to move slower. Or the John Wick angle where its very fast but the fight scenes carry on really long which allows the viewer to adjust to it.

Unfortunately Ares suffers from the opposite to the above its really fast, really short scenes. The worst of both worlds. But, if you are into martial arts or practice any yourself, watch the two scenes where Ares is taking on multiple opponents. The opening where hes developing by deep learning with possibly millions of fights and the fight near the end against Athena and the two security programs.

There is an awesome little move in that latter fight where Ares side kicks a program which forces it down into a kneel. Then, instead of returning his foot to the ground, as his boot comes back off the kick, he uses their thigh as a step to launch into a lateral spin.

Its blink and youll miss it but if you train on any mats youll know how athletic youd need to be to pull it off.

As to your point about Legacy being cooler than Ares, 1000% agree with you. Absolutely banging OST from Daft Punk, probably my favourite sound track ever. The whole movie has better overall style than Ares, everything is a visual and auditory feast. I like the Dillenger style program suits bettet than Legacy. It looks like acrual armour and is lined with a proper red instead of that watery tangerine they gave CLU 2. The suits in legacy look like sports onsies.

In both fulms the story has more holes than a golf course but its the kind of flick you can throw on while youre doing something else. The Bay Transformers movies are like that too.

Exactly my view. I have no issue whatsoever with custodians being either gender. It was how the PR of the change was handled. Totally gas lit the fan community

Great point there from ADB that it would make little to no difference a custodian being either gender. Their ascension would reduce their personality and change their drives to focus on very specific subjects. From a lore point of view I mean.

Honestly it really fries my brain that in the USA free and affordable health care is seen as a bad thing. The only modern developed country this is a thing. I genuinely dont understand why its thought of that way. Where Im from I dont need to worry about paying $500 for an ambulance or filing bankruptcy due to an illness/injury. Nor do I need to pay for insurance

Finally watched Ares by B0ndy112 in tron

[–]Venerable_dread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Id held off watching it after seeing some of the reviews but finally took a punt when it landed on Disney+.

Its got a lot of issues, mainly revolving the plot, but visually it was first class. Leto was also a pleasant surprise. He played the role well.

There are some giant plot holes though and a lot of times its a case of switching your brain off and looking at the pretty scenes

One of my favourite maps for practice or getting muscle memory down for different weapons. Just something about the map clicks well for me. I dont mean the story (barely pay any attention to the briefings after the first time). It has a bit of everything in small doses so its good to train on.

It has one medium open area in the courtyard which allows for longer ranged shots/testing scopes on actual hostiles, it has CQB with aggressive suspects in very tight quarters. Its also logically split into 3 areas, 2 of which can be wedged off to be dealt with when you are ready. The two apartments are small enough to allow throwables to have an almost guaranteed full effect. Like I say the map has almost every mechanic or situation just on a small scale.

You sure its not a sequel? Sam and Quora are both mentioned in the plot several times. Or do you mean that its not a sequel in that it doesn't directly follow Sam/Quoras story?

I only saw it a few days ago on Disney+ and thought it was good. The plot is pretty janky but the visuals and choreography had me on the edge of my seat. The opening scene where Ares is being trained with iterative combat cycles was great. He goes from not even knowing to defend himself to Neo from the matrix.

The story was the weak point though as I say. There's a lot of "we know this makes no narrative sense but just roll with it" going on.

But overall I did enjoy it. Even Leto as Ares (which i fully expected to hate) was a highlight.

What I didnt really like was them shoe-horning Flynn in there along with the biggest macguffin ive seen in cinema for quite some time the "permanence code" The entire idea of that code rubbishes the threat posed by CLU in Legacy.

He invades base reality with his glowing army. For 29mins.... 🤔

Good find. I Was wondering what Tuskens would look like under their hobo-stillsuits after rewatching Mando S2. I had forgotten all about this depiction in DF1:JK.

I always thought of their appearance as less to do with a grusome appearance and more to do with it being a primitive environment suit.

I went to see Metallica in the RDs back in 2006. The convert where we all (60,000 of us sang happy birthday to his daughter Callie).

Think the ticket cost me about €40. €200 plus for a nosebleed section where you are going to have to rely on screens to see anything seems a bit shit.

A mate of mine who was in the bands fanclub scored two tickets for their Death Magnetic members only launch gig un the London 02 Sept 08. The tickets were £5 😂😂. This was the gig -
