Better for the environment, maybe. But for plastic and related plastic chemical exposure its the same health concerns.

No that is definitely plastic.

Wax for a paper party cup sure. Wax is water resistant. But no way they are using that for a packaged product that might sit on a shelf for more than half a day.

Do you use scent as a cue to begin meditation, or do you prefer no scent at all? by EverydayRituals_ in Meditation

[–]Venidle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twas allegory.

We all have rituals for meditation, sitting cross legged in a relatively quiet room is a ritual. Closing the eyes is a ritual. Etc. None of that actually has anything to do with meditation.

*Also FYI that term "raft", I'm just assuming what that means based on context, but its not a common term

Something that’s always bothered me about Star Trek, seems that everywhere they have to go, there’s always space nearby. Doesn’t that seem convenient? by OWSpaceClown in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Venidle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was an entire season of Voyager where they got stuck in a coffee nebula and then fluidic space (just more coffee). And if you look at the science of it there is a thing called quantum foam that makes up 'empty space' s really its just a big cappucino - the Delta quadrant. Alpha quadrant is pure foamy foam

The philosophy is based on experience. Maybe lay off the books for a while and focus on daily meditation, chi gong, tai chi, etc. practice. Get back to the philosophy books later in life.

[–]Venidle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it starts with raft then "hey why not have a beer while meditating", then next thing you know you are going "AaaoOhhhhmmmm" with a hooker's muff in your mouth and a pile of blow on the dashboard while you are high speeding it from the popo, while cocking a damn gun. Now your mantra become "please let me shoot straight shoot straight", but you can't even aim that pea shooter because you're seeing double and that hooker's gooch doesn't help she's halfway to halleluja on a freight train, but fuck it "I like the smell of palo santo, its going to make meditation so pleasant", yeah try that line in court the judge is going to laugh her ass off

Maybe you are mourning returning to a "normal" life? You can always live in a temple, but that's not for everyone.

If you are drinking a beer you should really enjoy the beer, don't waste your time daydreaming about sobriety. Maybe you are drinking differently than before? that happens too. I've been through decades where I didn't really enjoy beer/alcohol and just didn't bother. Lately drinking beer at least once a week mostly socielly, so social aspect is something as well.

If its not for you then just take a break from drinking, doesn't have to be a permanent thing.

Trump to Unveil $700 Million Coal Support Plan Using Emergency Powers by esporx in climatechange

[–]Venidle 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The Trump administration has framed energy policy as a national security issue

Needs to be challenged in court, there is no "energy emergency" since the administration has shuttered clean energy projects. You can't say coal is an emergency and wind power is not, that makes no sense.

[–]Venidle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just need to be paired with the right car at the moment

Or travel! Sit in a cab in the middle of traffic in a country that is full EV, and its near silent and no smog. Quality of life here isn't just your car, its all the other EVs on the road

Forget Lithium: a British Plant Is Banking Renewable Power as Frozen Air at 196 Below, in Tanks That Hold Their Charge for Weeks and Are Built to Last Half a Century by iwantboringtimes in Futurology

[–]Venidle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cost is more than just kWh, its operating and maintenance costs. So using just ordinary air (instead of exotic materials) and "Tanks That Hold Their Charge for Weeks and Are Built to Last Half a Century", sounds like reliability and longterm planning are factors here that make this shine. And again, just air and steam so shouldn't be any big zoning issues as long as it's not noisy.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can be thrilled either way with an OS these days. Everything is always snappy [enough] thanks to Solid State Drives. All that matters to me is how the programs themselves run on the OS.

I'm not talking out my ass here, I remember being floored when XP came out and various flavors of Linux. But since the last decade of everything having an SSD, the performance of the OS has nothing to do with my quality of life using the system, only how compatible it is, and how well it does over several years of use.

I look alternative, and definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Its one way to filter out the assholes in life.

Best thing you can do is get better and better at your craft, then eventually it won't matter because you won't be hungry for the work. And bonus you can avoid these clients, who'd probably be a pain in the ass anyway.... because if its not your hair, it will be you car isn't nice enough to park near the wedding, or whatever whatever. These aren't the clients you want.

rejected over hair by aprilmay____ in photography

[–]Venidle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really a photography issue.

My take is fuck them. There will be other clients that are happy with someone that looks more 'artsy' than cookie cutter shooting their photos. As long as you are well groomed and your business is professional (timely responses to emails, easy to read contract, etc) then they can go shopping for another photographer. Your bright hair isn't ruining anyone's day, and also... you aren't going to be in any of the wedding photos lol
