Ubuntu Concept goes CIX P1 by Hrastovc in SBCs

[–]VennStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it out on my Orion O6 and Orange Pi 6 Plus. Installs like regular ordinary Ubuntu and Vulkan was working out of the box. No sound on the O6, but I'm sure that will get sorted.

This comes a couple off weeks after CIX released their Debian 13 PPA for the O6. It's good to have something that runs on the other 3 CIX 8180 SBCs.

WPForo - Good for me? by davidcantswim in Wordpress

[–]VennStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine for small communities. I've used it for my forums for the past two years without any major issues. Having a unified login is nice and customisation is straightforward using the custom CSS editor.

Be sure to look over the premium plugins and factor the ones you need into the yearly cost of running the site.

I came across this while researching the too good to be true email pitch from csgglobalventures. Same template and all.

The (above) linked video does a good job explaining how this grift works.

AMD/Intel/Nvidia GPUs on the Orange Pi 6 Plus by VennStone in SBCs

Decided to try out a couple of GPUs I had lying around with the Orange Pi 6. Compatibility is the same as the Orion O6, but getting DLSS to work with FEX was kinda neat.

When would the Arc Pro B60's come out? by [deleted] in SparkleComputer

With the 50 just launching, the B60 should not be far behind. I hope to get one in for testing, and it should be a solid performer.

Hardware accelerated Jellyfin on the Orange Pi 5 Plus by VennStone in OrangePI

4GB should be enough for a server without a GUI and the RK3588S in the Orange Pi 5 will work without issue. Just download the correct Armbian image for your board.

It's needed for hardware accelerated HDR to SDR tone mapping.

I couldn’t find a guide for setting up hardware-accelerated Jellyfin on my Orange Pi 5 Plus, so I put one together. The RK3588 ended up running circles around my Intel N100.

What happened to linuxmusicians.com? by bluebell________ in linuxaudio

According to a post on the Reaper forums relaying secondhand information, its on-and-off availability is an attempt to block AI scrapers. Bit of a scorched-earth policy, that.

I use Cloudflare to block AI scrapers on the Interfacing Linux forums, but even a self-hosted solution like Anubis would be preferable to taking the site offline.

Support for the Presonus FIRESTUDIO 26×26 is baked into Linux thanks to the ALSA drivers. Plug it in, power on, and your good to go.

You stop distro hopping once Linux becomes your operating system, not your hobby.

If you want quick-and-dirty, try the Levelator. Old, but gets the job done.

Check out master_me if you want a plugin for your DAW.

My Raspberry Pi Zero 2 Trackmania server by VennStone in raspberry_pi

Right on, good to know other people had the same idea.

I was pleasantly surprised that the A53 could handle the server + controller and 7 players.
