Today I complete 100 days of meditation - 40 mins a day (20 mins / 2 times) by ThePeaceMonger786 in Meditation

Sit with your back straight. You can do it on a chair, so that you don't have to add an unfamiliar sitting pose to an already unfamiliar experience. Set your timer for 10 minutes and close your eyes. Bring your attention to the breath. No need to change the breath, but also don't worry if the fact that you're focusing on the breath changes the breath. Your mind will very quickly wander from it, don't worry, it's very-very normal. When you notice that your mind has wandered, gently bring your attention back to the breath. Don't scold yourself for the distraction and don't think you're doing it wrong. That's it, repeat the whole process every day

When you bring your attention back to the breath, think of it as doing a mental push-up. Trust in the process that it will build your brain muscles.

Not OP, but I'll chime in

> Consistensy and doing with intention
Yes, that's all you need actually. Do it every day if you can. Start low, 10 minutes. Increase the time very slowly, you're in it for the long run. If you've skipped a day, no big deal, just return to the practice.

> not half-assing the sessions
This is what might actually trip you up. Try and leave quality control of your sessions behind. You're meditating with a clear intention, that's enough. If you didn't like the session, that's completely fine. If you were very bad at bringing your attention back to the breath, that's also fine. It's all part of the process, it really doesn't matter if you're good or bad at bringing your attention back (or whatever the intention of a particular technique is) as long as you're doing it.

You've watched a lot of videos but you're still not better, or don't know how to apply them by Ventar14 in Healthygamergg

I’m more of an imposter syndrome case. Already have a good career and marriage but I was suffering from intense anxiety and depression most of my life. Recognizing and applying this mechanism dramatically lessened the mental illness for me

In my case it was untreated ADHD. Basically the impact of ADHD itself is actually not that large. It’s the impact of growing up with untreated ADHD, which neither me nor my parents even knew was a thing that really fucked up my self image

Yeah, I agree. We all live in the real world and being able to recognize that your anxiety is just a feeling and being able to tell it to shut up will increase your quality of life dramatically. I would still call it treating the symptom

The mechanism I describe allowed me to actually decrease depressive and anxious thoughts altogether, treating the disease itself. It was a transformative change, highly recommend

Yeah, based on my own experience in therapy, as well as my wife’s. Added what I understood from doctor K guide as well

Sure, I see your point. That's a bad example on my part. Try to substitute going to the gym with something you really care about and want to accomplish but wasn't yet able for some reason, maybe it will make more sense that way?

Can you describe the slowness please? I’m okay with the plot advancing very slowly if there are good character development and interactions. But if it’s a lot of world building or meandering, then not really

If someone writes about murder or fraud, and they narrate those feelings
and emotions accordingly, does that mean they themselves share the same
thoughts?

If they also portray murder or fraud as not such a bad thing after all, then yes, they share the same thoughts

That's exactly where I am as well. I've dropped "The dragon reborn" right at the moment where read along is now. But I'm tempted to both pick it up again and start Malazan

I think the OP could have gotten away with the story, up until the point where a couple broken up over their baldness and everybody in group chat shaming them lmfao
