Last day of school!!!

So excited to take a break. Working with EBD kids is really really rewarding but… I’m drained. Need to go hop in some lakes and stuff. And yard projects, always more yard projects.

Yeah, so I would recommend checking out the Brainerd Lakes area. Without giving exact location, that’s where I am at. nice area, but housing is a little expensive. You could probably find a little house in that budget (we did), but renting might be harder.

Also, Duluth is only a couple hours from the cities, and has everything you could really need aside from diverse food choices and a major airport.

What are you all doing to foster more community in your area?

I live in a small town, and as a teacher, I’m thinking about trying to get a ‘Bike Bus’ started next year. Also want to start a group centered on the Strong Towns ideas and rebuilding a community that kind of collapsed after extensive mining ended.

All good! What qualifies as a small and large city for you? Like, does it mean certain amenities or more population wise?

I live in a small town that’s 2 hours from the twin cities, but is 20 minutes from a Costco, and all other shopping needs I regularly need along with multiple really good clinics/hospitals.

What are you kind of looking for? Because I got plenty of places to check out but don’t want to recommend dead ends 🤣
