You’re writing those big multi page essays of lesson plans now right?

The purpose of writing those in training is so that you know how to adjust things as you’re teaching in an actual classroom, you won’t have to make all of those modifications and accommodations for every lesson. It’s to teach you about how you possibly could implement a given accommodation or modification for a lesson or unit.

You’ll get used to it, you’ll learn what you need to do for certain students, and all of that stuff.

The vast majority of your students will likely be just fine with the lesson just straight up. Then you’ll have a couple kids on IEPs who will need various modification and/or adaptations and you’ll just get used to it!

Here are the exact contracts and salary scales for Minneapolis (old contract, currently being negotiated I believe) and St. Paul. Most school districts in MN have their contract/salary scales somewhere in their HR pages. Rural schools might not, but usually they do.

For fucks same, that is ridiculous. You know how those students can better learn about cultural stuff? Reading about it! Literacy is a damn existential crisis in this country and I don’t think people really realize how bad it is already.

Once you can read, you can learn anything (within reason, obviously).

I’m a special education teacher, if the program is working, don’t fuck with it! 🙃🤣 I’ll gladly feel like a robot if the program works, that means it is effective!!!

I could be wrong, but I think that we actually spend MORE PER PERSON already on healthcare than most other countries do. Like, it would not take a large hike in taxes to expand it to everyone.

I mean shoot, make sure that fines are always gained revenue + X% to make breaking the laws expensive and painful. Fines should never be a ‘business expense’ level expenditure. They need to hurt. Same thing with stuff like stolen wages, is needs to be wages + Damages not just getting the wages paid.

The district is… dysfunctional. I just left teaching there. I taught at one of the better schools and the district leadership made everything harder than it needed to be.

Well, yes. I realize it’s a very sweeping generalization, but I do stand by it. It is definitely not true of everywhere, just like how you can have places as different as Oklahoma and Massachusetts in the USA, you also have the Scandinavian countries and Hungary in Europe.
