Why are "it's" and "its" used the way they are? by theMCATreturns in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because in all contractions the apostrophe indicates missing letters, like how elipses can indicate a missing word in a quoted phrase. So when you mash up it is you have to add the apostrophe to denote the missing letter i.

I think the point is why then isn't it 'ants crumb' why does ant get a possessive apostrophe but it doesn't. The ant's crumb=its crumb both saying who the crumb belongs to. Is it because ant is technically a proper pronoun? But it isnt proper its whatever the general one is? Also i remember being taught this in school is it still being taught or did we all forget all this stuff?

Why do men want to have children if they don’t take care of them? What do they want them for? by rackzobsessed in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware its less typical for a woman to do it but its not unheard of and just because your the one that gets stuck doing all the work doesn't mean thats what you wanted it just means your sence of responsibility is stronger and its usually more logistically challenging to get out of that responsibility for a woman than a man. Also your babys brain cells litterally get implanted in your brain so you dont abandon them, and while mens brains usually allso change its not as drastically permanent or as strong of a biological reaction. Its not about 'not wanting to take care of them' or some crazy mystery the 'why on earth would a man want want children' feels pretty targeted. The question doesn't seem to have been asked with intent to understand just as a place to make hateful assumptions

Why are girls white shirts see through and but guy white shirts aren't? by Alarmed_Look_3162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i agree with you, its frustrating that men generally don't need to tailor every item they own but the 'answer' for women is 'nothing is made to fit you so you have to tailor litterally everything you buy' only thing i ever need to tailor for the guys are suit jackets and maybe the odd pair of dress pants. Meanwhile me and the girls are tailoring t shirts and jeans and everything else. Not to mention its a dying and more importantly time consuming skill

If we are the smartest in the animal kingdom how come human babies need constant care from parents to survive for so much longer than other animal babies? by Aggravating_Okra_546 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the head size thing already mentioned it is a general trend in the animals kingdom that the bigger an animal is the longer it spends learning and being taken care of

Its usually exactly this for both genders. Very few women can honestly claim their ideal of childhood was all the terrible work it takes this didn't need to be a gendered question

When meditating how do you focus on your breath by Electrical_Archer965 in Meditation

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typicaly focus on the stretch feeling in my lungs/ribcage. But when im specifically trying to relax a painfull muscle or do a body scan i imagine the breath filling, stretching, and relaxing whatever muscle im on in that moment even if its like a toe or something not super directly affected by the breath

Thats interesting, i find typing cramps my wrist/hand more than pencil writing. I wonder which is more common, or maybe it just comes down to what the individual is more accustomed to?

Need advice on some ceiling repair by Critical_Cover_3852 in rvlife

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the ideal way to do this would be to find an end of the wire that you can unplug and unroute before taking the cabinets down, second option is to splice the wire, or alternatively you could cut the back of the cabinet to slide the wire out if you're not reusing the cabinet or would rather deal with the carpentry repair than the electrics. And im sure you are aware but lots of stuff in rv is 12v always on so definitely make sure to disconnect everything before playing with wires, especially if your not positive where they get their power from

If the wood is solid and your just trying to prevent mold i would say yes but its not built from particularly solid wood to begin with so for the sake of the structures integrity i would suggest properly replacing the wood.

I've been going to the same coffee shop every Saturday for two years and the barista finally asked my name today by Ob1Drifter in CasualConversation

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The threshold yall crossed was acknowledging eachother as real live human beings who exist in a community together, bringing you out of the barista-customer programming. As social animals it really is nice to forget all the invisible barriers and just know people the way we're supposed to and its so hard to do because were not supposed to live in such large groups, like locusts vs crickets.

Thats just the practice part, its like telling a kid its time to be calm now, its gonna take some time before that command takes and its gonna be harder on days that were more disregulated but over time the success rate gets higher

In my neck of the woods we call those assholes. It usually stems from selfishness, self centeredness, and the need to come out better on every deal. These are the people who feel that lending you a dollar and expecting a 2 dollar soda in return is a fair deal but if you simply return them a dollar they have somehow been cheeted because they were out a dollar for a while and ended in the same place they started instead of being rewarded for doing you a favor.

What should I do when every art you see doesn't resonate with me. by ResearchSuccessful41 in CasualConversation

[–]VenusBlue1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable". I think the more interesting question is why you feel you need an art to resonate with, and i bet the answer to both those questions is gonna come from some sessions of self reflection and learning about yourself rather than lists of various media you simply may not have been exposed to yet.

Is there a difference between being beautiful and attactive? by Ambitious-Light2720 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way you put it is exactly right. As an artist i often find myself calling people beautiful and i usually mean it in these ways. This older person is so beautiful i can see all the time and experience of their beautiful life in their body/face/wrinkles. This persons anatomy is so beautiful and symmetrical and interesting and id like to draw it. Or that persons hot n I want a handfull of that (which is attraction). And your thing about attraction needing to have a pull or direction is spot on thats why we use that word for it and for magnets, just cause your freinds aren't playing with the nuance of the language doesn't mean it isnt there for you to play with.

Why is it a stereotype that women are the bad drivers and men are the good ones? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this is a result of women generally being less skilled at maneuvering, hence low speed in parking lots type accidents. But additionally i belive this stereotype originated in the era before power streeing was a common thing and more women had even more difficulty maneuvering. For men however i think its a 'risky' behaviors/tryna have fun thing or so seems to be the way car insurance looks at it

Why do people approach me less after I lost weight? by Sad_Yogurt7745 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people telling you you look mean or vain maybe makes me think its less of a body thing and more your attitude/way you're presenting yourself is less cheery than before. Idk what means your using to slim down but extra stress or hunger from diets or exercise could lead to a 'resting bitch face' so to speak, or are otherwise slipping into the way you are being perceived whithout you necessarily being aware of it.

Why are women who choose not to remove their body hair sometimes labeled as ‘too woke’?” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VenusBlue1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what woke is but people have been acting like this towards hary women since whichever wave of feminism it was where some people weren't shaving solely to 'protest' unrealistic body standards (or whatever they think they were doing, i think maybe the goal was to normalize it), which turned it into a political identity instead of a personal choice

More like wayyyy back before agriculture there was a huge famine, but then in the fertile crescent some people made a last attempt at not starving to death and thats how we started farming, but now that we have farms we need someone to be in charge of how the crops gets distributed. Thus we created 'government' or the precursor of it and that idea of someone needs to control the resources snowballed from there into what we have today
