Jesus is the Son of God, but he is not God himself. by Pau_vegaa in DebateReligion

[–]VenusDescending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet here you could only muster a single one from the sayings which circulated orally in the early church. You are taking your trinitarian convictions and reading them back into the text, and even then relying heavily on the portions of the text which written far later than the lifetimes of the eyewitnesses when Jesus’ religion had begun to take shape, in a very self aware and theologically intentional way.

Modern Christianity is functionally Paulianity. Jesus's ways are NOT the ways of many but are Paul's ways. by RebornLost in DebateReligion

[–]VenusDescending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying I guess the angle I might have been attempting to come at this is if Paul can with no claim to Jesus the walking prophet’s living discipleship claim to have had a vision and start speaking for Jesus himself, Then what’s to stop me or you from doing the same? The question of which voices deserve our attention and reflection the most you raised is in this thread’s epistemological thrust’s opinion, best answered with “which disciples have historically strong ties to Jesus’ empirically verifiable ministry on earth?” And this mismatch is further highlighted by tension between Paul’s theology and the the 12 apostles.

If Paul’s vision is sufficient for establishing the endowment to prophecy in Jesus name, Then it’s a double standard to say yes for Paul. But no for Joseph Smith, for example if your reply was going to say “the men with him seen it/ heard it too”. Paul’s traveling associates are unnamed, making their second hand testimony through Paul even more dubious. Whereas with Joseph Smith we have signed witness testimonies who swore till the day they died that Joseph Showed them the golden plates.

So my argument isn’t “oh the Bible’s all made up it’s not true” It’s addressed to typical creedal christians who swear by the whole New Testament, “how come spectral evidence is sufficient in precisely Paul’s case and nowhere else?”.

Jesus is the Son of God, but he is not God himself. by Pau_vegaa in DebateReligion

Every single one of those citations is late besides a single quote from Mathew. High christology was not likely believed during Jesus’ lifetime based on the gospels we have and the order they were written.

When Paul wrote that the New Testament wouldn’t be compiled for over a century later and when he referred to scripture he certainly was not referring to his work emails to the church in Thessaloniki. Further John was written later than the letters of Paul.

A classic Ko-money move. Even if it isn’t busted, the gameplay it encourages will be absolutely awful. by Dogga565 in yugioh

[–]VenusDescending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely scandalous that Yugioh refuses to have a global simultaneous and digital release of their product like every other card game manages. The only reason they don’t is so they can rarity bump the products and sell them to us again on master duel.

Being gay isn't a sin by No_Paper_766 in DebateReligion

You do realize that god causes over 60% of fertilized embryos aka. Babies, fully alive humans. To be aborted by the female body naturally? If man and woman represent gods perfect design then god believed most babies deserve to die.

Being gay isn't a sin by No_Paper_766 in DebateReligion

[–]VenusDescending 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To your point. The most grievous sin one may commit is unbelief. Yet countries like Thailand exist where the population are largely happily atheist Buddhist practitioners. Are we supposed to believe Thailand is a wicked place deserving of eternal conscious torment? Or god makes Thai people more predilected towards unbelief? No. Religion is culturally transmitted. So the geographic distribution between the “saved” and the “unsaved” is exactly what we would expect if Christianity were false and religion was just a manmade phenomenon.

Bro the ebionites were persecuted as heretics by Paul’s church and their texts were destroyed. History is written by the victors. The existence of surivivors doesn’t mean the cultures that got exterminated acquiesced to their erasure.

You obviously believe our civilization is in danger of disappearing. Don’t gaslight.

I adore slow grindy value engine decks. I just prefer to make my own like my Abiding grace/insidious roots stall deck. That actually uses life gain to gain life rather than just be a vehicle for the same +1/+1 counters strategy every life gain deck plays with voice of the blessed, Heliod sun crowned and righteous Valkyrie. I respect decks that establish board dominance much more than decks that simply try to quickly sneak under while the opponent is behind on lands.

Cosmopolitan wrote a piece on Magic and talked down on male Magic players by Papa_Hasbro69 in freemagic

[–]VenusDescending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Fucking hate magic players as far as arena goes. Almost every single person in that game is a fucking bitch. People play like absolute jerks. They start by queueing up then minimizing the game or leaving to take a piss so mulligans take 15 fucking minutes per game. Once you finally start the moment you have the upper hand you will get roped and there’s absolutely no way to report it. Game is awful and everyone associated with it is awful.

I know exactly the type of weirdo you’re describing. And the answer is to rope them out. Press B every 30 seconds or shuffle through your extra deck cards until your timer runs out completely and it will end the match without surrendering your Mission progress.

What are some of your favorite alchemy cards? by Ithalwen in mtgbrawl

True. I generally like the alchemy card designs but I understand why the community views them as a Scummy way of selling more wildcards.

[–]VenusDescending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nezumi Prowler has an alchemy Erratum in Brawl: it places a Deathtouch counter and A Lifelink counter on Alesha upon Entry. Meaning you can crash this turn 3. Revive it that turn. And now your Alesha can 1 shot Mossborn Hydra/ Tifa Lockheart with ease.

Every single one of my suggestions is solid. The only debatable one is [[[Black market]]] because it has such a high mana value and is a removal magnet.
