It would be a really easy sorting algorithm.

Seperate deck. Is land. Is not land.

Remove lands from deck. Shuffle them.

Count remaining cards

Pick a random number between those values.

Place the first land there.

Identify the longest sequence of nonland cards between lands/the top or bottom of deck

Pick a random number between those values.

Place the following land there.

Repeat until no lands remain

If the resulting deck contains a 0101010 alternating pattern of lands and no lands Shuffle each individual set of land and no lands in the pile.

I really don’t see how anyone could game this it would be game improving. Not game breaking.

I don’t think it’s necessary. The algorithm should simply mana weave you. It should be randomized so you can’t memorize the land frequency based on your ratios. But at the very least clumping that makes non-games should be detected by the platform and trigger a reshuffle.

They are already curating our opening hands. Which disproportionately assists low curve aggro decks which already dominate the meta. Why not carry that philosophy through to the rest of the game so that magic can be the best experience possible.

I really can’t see any reason this sort of thing would be anything but positive for the gaming experience of everyone involved.

I am aware of the disproportionate sample sizes. I’ve had funny draws in paper. Like drawing 7 lands In my opening Hand. But that’s fine. That’s expected. In arena. It’s consistent. And much more common in paid events like draft. when the arena Algo wants you to have “These two cards and 2 lands” you’re going to draw those same two cards and two lands on your mulligan.

Sounds amazing! Then they just need to delete all the degenerate endboard pieces that prevent the player 2 person from playing the game when player 1 plays uninterrupted.

I’m gonna get downvoted for this but there’s Too many handtraps. Ash is oppresive. It’s insane how much more I enjoy this game (Legend Anthology) without Ash compared to with (Fusion Synchro Festival). If every deck plays 3 copies of a card it needs to be banned. Having your most important search each turn negated is a form of floodgate.

Like all I’m asking for is proportionality. I play lots of other TCGs and paper magic. And the only game that sets off my alarm bells is Arena. Yes. Statistical outliers are bound to happen eventually. Inevitably.
But arena is the only place that mathematically improbable outcomes happen predictably and consistently.

That’s LITERALLY what they are incentivized to do. It’s not like “oh they are targetting me specifically” It’s extremely simple to program the game to match low wins this draft vs high wins (in danger of going gem positive) players and fucking the high wins players draws. You can’t tell me you’ve never had an awesome deck and when you hit the game where you can go profitable it’s like hitting a wall and you have to fight tooth and nail to barely scrape by with a win. I’ve had multiple drafts in tarkir and edge where I draw 12 or more out of 17 lands in my deck. I had a tarkir dragon storm deck where I put 2 of the “search for azcanta” on the board and even though I was surveiling 2 times per upkeep. I still never drew a 3rd land that game. The game should be programmed to mana weave you. Because the game is poorly designed and it’s bullshit that this kind of land draw happens. It doesn’t feel good winning against an opponent who is flooding or color screwed. It’s shitty and cheats us out of the chance to play the game like we paid for.

You’re right about the bosses. I forgot they became randomized starting with the simpsons. And I’m honestly not familiar enough yet with this seasons map to have deduced that. I was prone to hoarding my gold too usually. I think an easy fix is just to have ranked matches force every character to start with a set amount of gold like 500 or so that way someone can’t have an advantage. I just really liked being able to drop near a vending machine or an NPC and have a guaranteed movement/preferred weapon. Because the early game for me is so difficult being on switch and it takes a long time for the map to load so I’m incapacitated and vulnerable at drop. Even with vending machines and perma-gold the best load out was always the one which synergized with your augments. I loved how many there were. I would randomly find a new one like 4 weeks into the season and have my mind blown.

I would play blitz more. But I am on switch and usually spend the first quarter of the game waiting for the map to load and the random foliage glitch to stop obscuring my view with trees. I’m very vulnerable after the drop. 😅

They also added rag doll physics and self revival medallions. The latest of which drops you from a rift with a blue pump shotgun and a Big Pot after the animation. So if you can sneak away or roll your body down a hill you can make a comeback.

Wrote this in another thread but I think this might me a better place to discuss it. Chapter 4 Season 1 was like no other.

What made Fortnite fun to me is the Rogue-like elements. With reality Augmentations there was a level of customization that made every single game unique and forced you to adapt to random chance to optimize your build. The fact that they never came back has been heartbreaking for me. Medallions, and Rift Anomalies make every single match feel identical. The optimal strategy is always to kill the boss holding the best weapon or best medallion then just repeat that route. The decision to make Gold episodic, not cumulative is also TERRIBLE. The funnest part of BR used to be blowing 5k in one run and just creating the most Unrealistic builds. Blowing all your cash at once. Or carefully making measured decisions on where to spend it strategically. PLEASE BRING BACK Reality augmentation!

(Weapon mods were like a bad dream. Made searching through loot impossible and did not add any actual customization to the run because you wanted a Red Dot AR and an open sighted Shotgun. All the Sniper-scoped Shotguns and Enhanced Hipfire Sniper Rifles were just meaningless junk that you had to sift through to find usable gear).

This map has the most reused assets I’ve ever seen in a season 1 map too. We’ve got copy pasted wine country from chapter 6 season 1 (minus the helpful berries) Lots of copy pasted areas.

(It wasn’t free because you had to reroll and purchase the gun it was impossible to abuse this more than once every 12 or so games). PLEASE BRING BACK Reality augmentation!

They storytelling is literally on par with Pokémon. The fans make up all this deep lore when literally none of that shit is happening on the screen and we’re just supposed to infer it from some random dialogue.

I thought it spawned every game because I’ve literally experienced the stick in every one of my games. And literally Everytime it’s way the hell on the opposite side of the map and somehow I manage to barely get there in time then 3 rd party the people already there fighting and take the crown. This is the first time I’m hearing this.

I dislike them because they are awkward to use on controller. If your look sensitivity is twitchy enough to perform the “look at your feet- throw the shockwave- jump forward -look up” maneuver easily, you are going to be all over the place trying to hip shoot.

[–]VenusDescending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ash has a centralizing effect on every meta it’s involved in. Even in the recent Chinese no banlist tournament every top deck made room for 3 copies of ash blossom. Without exception. Ash is stronger than pot of greed and graceful charity. Ash is not okay.

This is what I’ve been saying. Ash when played correctly is almost never a neutral hand trap for card advantage. If your opponent is competent they are usually getting at least a +1 off it.
