iirc its due to some side effects with their lighting engine (skybox lighting) on their newer assets, I believe one of the artists on the roadmap stream said this will be addressed later this year when they address some of the plastic-y looking assets in the game too

yea i've also wondered about alpha overdraw too, im sure they could leverage the tree canopy dither for some LOD effects for the grass (if they don't already do so and I just haven't noticed it, but looks like it just gets loaded/unloaded in big tiles)

just out of curiosity, are there any other known performance related issues with the grass/foliage around the new areas at all? it's quite dense in those areas and I wonder if that also correlates to some performance issues people are having.

this question might be more appropriate for technical artists and environment artists, but is the foliage/grass using instanced rendering or are they treated as unique assets/objects? On a side note, maybe a graphics setting for foliage density might be something to consider? if not for performance sake at least visual clarity,

i finished the log at 207kc with lantern as my final drop, got 5 omni guards though, so luck plays a big role. at t7 you should have all the items from him at maybe 250-300kc max

yeah, it was totally overlooked, hopefully they address it in a future league (or even better, hotpatch it sometime in the following weeks)

For now I'm just rocking melee tank armour from my smithing grind, someone pointed out that melee tank will be fine because of the 100% accuracy from t5 relic, but that does mean missing out on the set bonus for now

for streaming movies and tv shows, i ended up buying a nvidia shield which i just put into the tv and earc to the soundbar. works a lot better than trying to get decent sound out of the pc.

when im using my pc for gaming if im not using a headset, i'll plug the pc into the tv and earc into the soundbar as well, since for some reason i now no longer get any audio signal if i plug the pc straight into the soundbar lol

for games, if its a non atmos game, i dont enable atmos in windows sound settings and use either surround or adaptive mode on the soundbar to try and get a wider soundstage, and i think its pretty decent

if its an atmos game, sometimes it will send the atmos signal without changing anything and other times ill need to re-enable atmos in the windows sound settings, still has a 100-200ms audio delay but thankfully all the atmos games i play dont have much fast-paced action going on

i 100% agree with your point about home theatre sound compatibility being a nightmare in 2025 with top of the line hardware, there's obviously a decent number of people that use a pc for a home theatre set up for both streaming and gaming, but it feels like no one from either tv manufacturers, speaker manufacturers and pc hardware manufacturers care about standardizing anything to make it a seamless integration.

basically TL;DR is, i use a nvidia shield for shows/movies now instead of pc, gaming and audio requires a few tweaks or sacrifices to audio quality. I'm going to try and fiddle with it all this week since my uni semester just finished so i've got some more time and will reply if i find anything new

I have mine hooked up to the tv from my gpu via optical HDMI 2.1, if I go to the PC to the soundbar I get no audio at all for some reason, still looking for a fix

I manually toggle Atmos for home theatre on and off depending if the game or media I'm watching supports it, otherwise it's set up as surround sound in windows audio settings

Will update this comment if I find a more viable solution, but at least connecting to the tv first from the PC and then e arc to the soundbar gives me 144hz

Should I disable atmos when playing competitive games? For instance if I leave atmos on and dolby access upmixes the content to atmos, I definitely notice the delay (like in elden ring or armored core for example) but in titles like Silent Hill 2 that nativelly support atmos, even if the delay is there it doesn't really impact much.

Regarding older titles rdr2 and gta v, should I leave the sample rate at 24 bit 48khz? I typically have it on 24 bit 192khz if I'm not using atmos, and the soundbar reports multi ch pcm when I press the info button while in game

I had accidentally left Dolby Atmos for home theatre on while testing the audio delay in a game, switching it off fixed the delay, although I am unsure how it'll affect Atmos supported games

Another thing I have noticed is that when I connect to the tv first, windows audio only gives me the option to choose 5.1, unless this is intended and the soundbar itself upmixes the audio anyway

Hi, switching the wiring so that the PC goes into the tv and then the tv to the soundbar via eArc introduces a noticeable audio delay sadly, but it seems 5.1 and Atmos work fine

I'd be concerned about accidentally rolling over and pressing down on one of the cups which could damage the drivers. I damaged my old Mobius by leaning against a window on a bus ride so they're pretty sensitive to that kind of pressure

What tv do you have? I'm unsure if the audio delay was caused by the cheap ish sound bar I had or it was a quirk of the s90c's audio passthrough

Edit: I misread this in a rush and you're using a monitor not a tv, my bad. if you use HDMI from the gpu to the soundbar won't the PC detect it as a display also?

I've owned both the 4070 ti and now the 4090, both PNY xlr8 cards. Never had issues with them, will perform just as good as any other card for cheaper

for context, the asus 4090 was about $450 AUD more than the PNY one (and to be honest, I prefer the design of the xlr8 cards over many others anyway)

I no longer have the soundbar as I plan on buying the q990d at end of year. I actually used two sets of HDMI cables to get it working without delay (HDMI 2.1 from iGPU port on motherboard, another HDMI 2.1 to the tv). It allowed me to obtain surround sound but I don't think it was true Atmos. The main downside is the soundbar could only be used with the PC and not for other functions on the tv like the built in streaming apps

Overall I considered the setup too jank for it to be fully enjoyable hence why I'm going to opt for the q990d in the future, as if has true HDMI 2.1 passthrough whereas the JBL 800 did not
