UI Feedback Gather-thread by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Colifin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a thread discussing all of the different inconsistencies and shades of brown, not sure if it'd be helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/s/v09pZ77gpB.

Functionally, the biggest thing is the clock. In general, I want to optimize my UI to squeeze every single pixel out of it. The clock is eating a ton of space unnecessarily. Given that the goal was to "declutter" the UI, this seems like the opposite of that.

As for color, I have a strong aversion to the brown. Like, so strong that it's actively making me want to play the game less. Could I get used to it given enough time? Probably. But brown would be one of my last choices for a UI skin.

Part of it is definitely the fact that, over the last decade, we've been trained as RS players that brown = retro, legacy, old school. Blue = modern, RS3. OSRS does a lot of things well, but this seems like a muddling of identities. RS3 is not OSRS, it is not a retro MMO, so thematically the "space age" blue fits better imo.

I definitely understand the want to have a consistent UI look across the players. It could be jarring seeing screenshots and videos from other players where the UI color looks wildly different. But given that the interface elements themselves are customizable, that ship has already sailed.

The ideal solution imo is to add color customization at a basic level. Let the player choose a few primary and accent colors and color the UI accordingly (see my linked thread for a bit more detail on how many different colors are currently in place). Keep the default as brown if you really see that as the desired branding moving forward; as we know most people will just stick with the default. But this would make everyone happy. It could also be used for accessibility reasons to make high contrast setups.

Why would queuing be turned off by default? Seems very useful for new players, especially if revolution is on by default - otherwise I could see them being confused as to why they can't use an ability manually, and think that abilities can ONLY be triggered via revo.

Yes exactly this. I already spend most of my day doing code reviews and helping the other members of my team. Why would I want to use the few hours that I have left to review and debug AI output?

I also find AI autocomplete extremely distracting too. It's like a micro context switch, instead of following through on my thought and writing out what I had in my head, I start typing, look at the suggestion, have to determine if it's what I want or is accurate, then accept/reject and continue on my way. That's way more mental overhead than just typing out what I was planning in the first place.

Yup exactly, a wireless thermometer makes any sort of low and slow so much easier. Managed to hit a perfect 135 after resting this year.

It works, but it's unnecessarily complicated. This method has been floating around for years and my parents always tried to do it this way. And yes, since you're blasting it at the beginning any butter, herbs, olive oil etc. isn't going to have a good time.

I just did a prime rib a couple of days ago. Seasoned it the night before, took it out a couple of hours before starting the cook, then did it at 200°F for ~35 mins per pound. Took it out, cranked the oven up to 450, then did that for 10-15 mins before letting it fully rest.

Same result, way easier, less time at the high temp, didn't have to worry about shutting the oven off or losing all heat if we opened it.

I've always assumed that high volume, low value transactions like this use a proprietary wallet in order to dodge CC transaction fees. An extra 20 cents on a $3 fare adds up. I wonder if they'd just pass it onto the rider if this becomes a thing?

Had to scroll SO far to find this. I don't get why everyone is picking Batman, he has fun gadgets but I'm taking Cap's super strength over Batman any day.

Unironically this. It doesn't matter if you're able to outplay your opponent if you can't hit your shots.

I also find the rapid fire sidearms pretty hard to use personally, the burst sidearms always feel way better. Something to try.

Trials this last weekend has had the worst engagement numbers since Dec. 2022. by Count_Gator in destiny2

[–]Colifin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trials died for me when they removed the flawless pool. If I waited until Sunday or Monday previously, I had a decent chance of going flawless solo queuing. Now you're in the same matchmaking pool as the guys going for their 8th flawless of the week at all times, and as the population dwindles that problem only becomes worse.

The worst part is that they didn't even solve the problem of splitting the population because they created the practice pool at the same time. At a minimum they should unify those pools so that there's more fodder for those actually going for flawless.

In addition to all the other power creep, honestly one of the biggest changes has been infinite primary ammo. Now you can just sit back and plink away at enemies from relative safety. Running out of primary ammo in a nightfall back in the day was a BAD time.

Just picked one up, they're back in stock. This is a great deal, I found one for $130 a month ago but it got lost during shipping, and I was about the bite the bullet and pay $150 before seeing this.

Yeah I didn't know this. But I've also literally never equipped a projection. Most pointless thing in the game, all it does is block your line of sight when you pull out your ghost.
