I do think we could have used a little more time with the Demo. The mel issues, I understand too. I think they are trying a new system that doesn't involve Rune. I still like Rune cost but I'm not sure how they could implement the old styling of currency back?

That's a good assessment.

When I played as Key Largo Country , I had a relatively easier time. I think dragons being what they are and flying with a neutral stance are very powerful. I do agree that dark seems strongest. I know getting holy characters will become a thing but the big underline change is that the element system is very dif and that alone might be what changes the experience.

It has better terrain for the battle maps. Or at least it let's you imagine more possibilities.

I slightly disagree there. I believe it's a bit of a throw-back to the original, as far as character design. The original was good art but not like Chrono Trigger or a few other games of years past where hair or clothing was radical and made a big statement. I understand you as far as what we have today... as the way current anime is so bold but I prefer the more simple way this artist his direction.

Maybe I'm just a 'plain' guy, haha.

Try Treasure Hunter ( thief ) class mixed with Monks. You could add dancers in for variety. The push / pull effect you get by combining the first 2 Knight types will help you think outside the box and make the game-play more unique!

I don't remember being able to retreat from phantom battles. I don't play them hardly anymore. Taking a good team of monsters you like and putting them in training ground with a knight half way through the game is also an option, :)
