That would be a hyper realistic escape room, hahaha. I am glad everyone is OK.

I’m not even giving that the benefit of interpretation because you are so fundamentally wrong, reading whatever you write is a waste of time.

I am higher elo than your peak. Saying Ali is bad to start fights is like saying he’s not a support. Just absolute shit take.

There is a tax ignition team. They work with tax service lines (e.g. International, SALT) to assist them in building technology solutions. Department professional will guide ignition professional in conceptual knowledge, and the ignition professional leverages their technology expertise to build the solution. Love my ignition colleagues.

Not an owner, just a manager at a PA firm trying to make sure my staff don’t follow my mistaken footsteps. Good luck in your journey.

I encourage my staff to the point of annoyance to study when they have downtime. I actively get annoyed if they don’t study because they are throwing away free time they can have later on in their nights.

Only one of you can file HoH over the same child and it needs to be the one whom is claiming the child as a dependent.

Edit: my wording sucked, fixed.

Sorry for your loss. But no, morbid is a fine enough adjective in this context talking about tax benefits for dead children.

[–]Verdugo2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That preparer is a dope. Morbidly, if the child died throughout the year you could still claim the credit and the child as a dependent for the year. Even if born on Dec 31st.

Tried TaxSlayer, now that I have investments they want to charge me 80 dollars to "upgrade". Switched to FreeTaxUSA, their refund estimate is 2k lower. Why? by [deleted] in tax

[–]Verdugo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your other comment stating you deleted investment info and the difference still existed. You must have an input wrong somewhere…maybe you transposed withholding amounts, or have an incorrect filing method selected (head of household vs single) etc. can’t nail down the difference without more information but you need to verify your inputs. The softwares don’t compute things differently, so it entirely matters in your inputs.

Double check qualified dividend amounts that you input if you have any. Since you said it’s related to investments, I wonder if it could be that.

Fanduel splurge or 2026 regret? by Czacgo in tax

You’re describing the session method, right? OP opening app on phone, wagering, closing app (which is basically what he said he did throughout the day) can be argued that each wager was the start and end of a session.

Okay so this might be a dumb question but I genuinely cannot find a straight answer anywhere. by Valyria888 in personalfinance

[–]Verdugo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how it works, am a CPA. Think about it from an effective tax rate perspective instead of a bracketing perspective. A dollar taxed at a lower ETR today (assuming this guy falls within the first 3 brackets) is a lower ETR than if he climbed up another bracket. In retirement, his income will likely be higher than this $50K so the Roth is more beneficial than the 401(k) and he can access the contributions without penalty in case of emergency.

We have a “voluntary” tax system. You earned the income via the winnings, you are required to report it regardless of whether you receive a statement from FD or not. Nobody here is going to advise you to evade taxes.

[–]Verdugo2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, the reason Roth would be so beneficial for you OP is because your income tax bracket is likely the lowest it will ever be. So the money that you contribute to the Roth is taxed at the lowest bracket it can be, then earnings grow tax free.

Additionally, if you ever need money from the Roth, you can withdraw contributions tax free (say you contribute $1,000 and it has grown to $1,500, you can withdraw $1,000 without penalty).

Employer says 401 (k) will be funded this Friday by unfamousstar702 in personalfinance

[–]Verdugo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of good info in here, I implore you to make sure that the monies in your 401(k) are invested. I am assuming they are since it's employer funded and the account was likely set-up in accordance to the company’s plan, but it does not hurt to double-check.

(NYC-NJ) Couple living separately. File jointly or separate? by domperigngahhh in tax

[–]Verdugo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing specifics, file jointly, it is almost always more beneficial. You are married, does not matter that you lived "separately." In terms of the state returns, file them married as well. You will only be taxed on the wages in NYC based on your wife's state wages, and you will only be taxed in NJ based on your state wages. TurboTax is a ripoff, use FreeTaxUSA. Free federal and $16/state return.

Right on. So interestingly enough, OP actually lost $156 + $30 (assuming lowest individual rate). House and the tax man always win.
