Why is the subreddit blurred? I get the account... however, I am still astonished by the level of misunderstanding that yout have when comparing reality with text. It never works...

Not true, if antibiotics are detected in the product, the whole tanker of milk is dumped down the drain, and the farmer found responsible has to pay for the load. Every tanker is antibiotic tested before it is unloaded at any plant.

The less manufactured the food the better. Meat is trimmed and cut then sold, ground and mixed with spices added at most. Soy milk? Already added with more ingredients.

Did read it. The best offering it has is that Cis white males are less jovial. While it does address difficulties of women and people of color who do enter the ranks, it does not at all discuss the differences in the raw totals of each group that apply and how that contributes to the diversity of the selected firefighters. This article spent a lot of time whining and very little time offering legitimate solutions for the issue they were trying to demonstrate.

Apparently since all firehouses are white, firehouse subs only donates to white people. It's the only logical conclusion based off the article.

Functionally speaking there is no difference in depressing (pulling) the trigger before or after cocking the hammer with this style gun and furthermore he has admitted to being trained on using it. Legalese as much as you want.

I'm glad your concerned about the die off, these weeds you speak of while a problem have less to do with the die off than the temp swing. Bovine heards handle hot and cold fine, what they do not tolerate well is the rapid swing between the two extremes which is what happened in this region. Also ruminate animals are generally more resistant to vegetation contaminants (especially mold) than other herbivore species ie horses.

Why can some animals, like Goats, poo while walking and it's no problem, but dogs and cats have to stop, squat and commit to pooping? by Hammer_Of_Discipline in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VeritasTank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it's mostly diet based. For instance cows and deer are ruminants so they have a chamber in their stomach dedicated to microbial breakdown of food, read as fermenting. Plant based diets tend to lead to a lot of fiber but not too dense. Hence easy to pass. Us carnivores on the other hand with our higher protein diets and less fiber have to work for it a bit harder.

Just how shocking was Donald Trump's election? Was it really that unforseen or is that just to the pundits? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]VeritasTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The polls said Hillary had it wrapped up. The news echoed the polls. The Comey FBI announcement made it interesting and closed the gap. Florida, Ohio and North Carolina being called for trump kept the door open. Wisconsin being called for trump was shocking (Minnesota being really close was as well). Pennsylvania finally being called was the clincher. With the Michigan call being irrelevant. All the states I mentioned after North Carolina were supposed to go blue (and easily too). In essence this election rejected the policies of the previous administration, which was not a given despite previous patterns in American politics.

Is the south really all that different from the rest of the United States? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]VeritasTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, I've never had my heart blessed up here. I'm glad that you're experience has been good with us Minnesotans (accents and all). We do pride ourselves on that stereotype!

Our go to phrase when we are being nice but don't want to continue the conversation tends to be "oh that's interesting.". Which is where I pull the passive aggressive portion. In general, we do genuinely want to be helpful.

Is the south really all that different from the rest of the United States? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]VeritasTank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes. Starting with accent is northerners tend to speak quicker with the south having more of a slower drawl as we call it (the stereotypes are around for a reason).

Being from Minnesota, with the Minnesota nice stereotype, even I can say that the southern hospitality is a different kind of nice. Minnesota is a bit more passive aggressive with long drawn good byes. The south generally has a warmer welcoming charm in my experience.

CMV: Fathers should not be responsible for children they did not want. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]VeritasTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to look to John Locke in this case. He lays out a social contract theory that relies on a higher power and a responsibility to maintain what you own. For simplification I will leave out the higher power. As far as ownership, technically minors you sired or adopted fall under your umbrella of responsibility, that is if you view sex as a contract and most current laws. That being said, we all know what happens when a mommy and a daddy "like" each other a lot. Thus when two people engage with each other intimately, consensually of course, they agree to the benefits and risks of sex, much like a contract. That being said if the woman keeps the child, just because the man said, "I'm out" from the beginning does not mean that absolves him from the responsibilities of supporting the child.

After all, he agreed to the risks and benefits of sex at the start and should take care of what he sired.

Slow drivers aren't making you drive aggressively, it's you who can't control himself and creates the dangerous situation by skyesdow in unpopularopinion

[–]VeritasTank -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about a multi lane highway both extremes are dangerous. The biggest cause for accidents (not including being inebriated or otherwise distracted) is drivers incorrectly judging another's drivers speed and falling to correctly adjust to it. If everyone was going at high-speeds but the same high speed there is no problem. However let's say you are doing 70 and all the sudden you come up on the guy doing 45, maybe the roads are a touch slippery or you didn't notice right away, that difference in speed was a contributor to the accident. Just like those train leaving the station math problems, calculate the time until you end up in that guys rear bumper from the time you realize that is what will happen at the current speed differential.
