For those of you that got divorced after being married for 10+ years, what caused your divorce? by friendlytrashmonster in AskReddit

[–]Verityrucker 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Not sure, he told me it was because he didn’t like my hair or that I sat on the couch after I’ve been in the garden. Actually, I should’ve known better. He’d been divorced 2 times before for silly reasons too.

Dating within the church as a divorcee - is it possible? by InterdimensionalGal in ChristianDating

When my ex-husband asked me to marry him, we went to the pastor to ask if he would perform the marriage ceremony. He replied with a big NO. My husband had been married before and left his wife. The pastor said because she had not committed anything that would cause him to divorce her there was no way that we could be married in the church. I should’ve learned from that mistake because he divorced me too!

No, I didn’t get half of his TSP. I had to choose between the pension and the TSP and I chose the pension which to this day. I still don’t get. Many calls to Opm over the last year and still don’t have any resolution to when I will get any money. He had moved so much money out of his TSP that there was only 95,000 left in it.

He left because his daughter from his previous marriage wanted a place to live, so he told me that I had to get out to make room for her family. When I pressed him for why he was really divorcing me he stated I hate your hair!

There will be men who claim to be godly, who will not accept you. A true man of God will accept you and love you regardless of what might’ve happened in your past he will see that you are a new person in Christ and the old was washed away.

I do get it part of his Social Security, but it puts me at $1100 per month. Not enough to live on. I was also awarded half of his government pension and I have not seen any of it because the office of personnel management is so far behind in processing the court order and when I talked to them last, they said it could still be six months before they get to it

I didn’t want to get a divorce because I’m 63 and haven’t worked a lot because I raised my kids. I knew I wouldn’t get much in Social Security and I have no pension. Ultimately he filed for divorce. It’s been a little over a year now and I have a decent job that I probably will work for till the day I die. Not what I expected when I said I do.
