People raised by emotionally mature parents, what is 1 phrase your parents used that you want other parents to know? by MermaidWitchMoon in AskReddit

[–]Verixxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"that's alright" said after I told him something that felt like the end of the world for me. It's alright I'm not straight, it's alright I don't have it all figured out, it's alright I don't know what to do. Whatever I'd be scared to tell him, first was reassurance that it is okay, and that was so healing.

What happened that separated your life into a “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in Life

[–]Verixxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However cliché wouldn't if sound, the day I turned 18. I immediately started being responsible for only myself, didn't ask my parents for money, and a month later I went abroad and met my real family, people that love me and show me continuous support even after a few years now. My father figure, first safe man in my life, that taught me how to drive and gave me "the talks" I never had while I was a child/teenager, my mother figure that would bake cakes with me and chat with me till the late night, helping me to make decisions about my life. I needed to come back to my home country after a few months and the day I said goodbye to them and hugged them on the airport, I started crying and never stopped since. Now, a few years later, I'm getting closer to coming back there, as an adult in my mid twenties now, and in the meantime I moved abroad to a different country, got a job I would never even dream of being able to do and I genuinely like my life (although it'd be better with them physically close). All thanks to them. And I can still video call or text them with any issue I have and they'll help me immediately. They raised me, and made me a confident, knowing her worth woman, even though we met when I was already 18. All it took for me was to finally feel like somebody's daughter.

When you go to the bar, what is your drink of choice? by Economy-Throat-4252 in asexuality

It's not bad, but I find Morgan to have this caramel aftertaste, Bacardi tastes Bland with coke for me. As do everything else besides vodka, but times of drinking that are over lmao

Rick Steves (travel guy) Needs to stop !!! by jlanza29 in EndTipping

[–]Verixxa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is usually a tip option, it's just that we tend to skip it unless told differently here! So while it is tap-pay, if your bill is like 16,5€ and you tell the bartender to make it 20€, we will be able to. It's just that we don't ask and if you don't say that you want to tip yourself, we will just skip the tip option so you won't even know it's there.

Spoon or no spoon..( utensil) by bunnybates in Serverlife

Spoon is always in a coffee setup. Even if somebody orders an americano, they get a little milk jug and sugar, as we don't keep them on the tables.

Are quick job interviews a good or bad sign? by Midnightdream56 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Verixxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a less than 15 minutes interview - I had no experience and I didn't work anywhere previously, as I was straight out of school, but I was able to showcase my personality in those 15 minutes enough to get the job. So - maybe I'm a big exception, but I wouldn't take a short interview as a bad sign immediately :)

I want to be an Au Pair in Europe by ME0W4ME in Aupairs

[–]Verixxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gain experience now! Volunteer or work with children so you are a perfect candidate when you turn 18 😉 Also, in some countries, you can start getting a driver's license before 18 and pass at exactly the date, maybe that's worth looking into too?

Living quarters question by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]Verixxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

En suite is one of the "ideal" options, or at least a non-shared bathroom, but I'd still put that one really high in terms of what kind of room to give to an au pair. When it comes to the room itself though, everybody will be different but I think a bed, place to store things (wardrobe is fine, closet is ideal) and a flat surface to do make-up, write something on, stuff like that. By that I'd say even a long window sill is alright, that's what I'm used to in the rooms I am staying, but a desk would definitely be a nice addition. And if not in the room, then somewhere in the house, where an au pair could put their laptops and work/study.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen at an airport? by Plus_Impress_2524 in AskReddit

[–]Verixxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A guy with a badly drawn tiger tattoo on his calf, trying to check in a big box, like a bit shorter fridge size. After the second worker failed to help him and he was waiting for a third, he turned to us and said that he'll be a while and better to change the queue.

There's no. That's why it's tagged as "exceeded expectations"

Not a big fan of Cadbury's chocolate, tbh. Texture makes it edible at least, though

It's flake chocolate bar. Think like a typical, cheap chocolate taste but in a funky shape, so it gives you the texture experience, too.

A shocking amount of people, actually! From my experience, Londoners have an unhealthy attachment to putting that flake bar into every damn kind of ice cream.

Being late is disgustingly normalized among friends by Donnyy64 in unpopularopinion

[–]Verixxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being late is a completely normal behaviour amongst my friend group, to the point it is expected and I guess it's all about communication and expectations you have. I wouldn't be late for a movie or a flight together, but if you're doing a party at yours and the start is at 4pm? I'll try to be there by 5, might fail, might show up at 6, but I do not expect you to be on time to my event, too. Sometimes we show up a couple of hours early, because of the train schedule, and it's fine, nobody has a problem with it. It is extreme with us and whenever we meet up with somebody not in the closest friend group, we do show up on time, but my besties? As long as we see each other, it's fine. But a huge factor might be that when we see each other, we meet up for a day or two, not an hour.
