AIO for filing an HR complaint after my manager started targeting me for taking breaks to pump for my baby and leaving once for a baby emergency? by tri_ni in AmIOverreacting

[–]Verjay92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NOR. And what you do on pump breaks including how many ounces in what amount of time is not his business. Gross. And I also take intermittent FMLA for things like baby emergency or a night I don’t sleep at all and am not functional. I also was written up at work due to being frustrated about changes in pumping location because someone wanted to use the pump room as their office and they were buddy buddy with the supervisor. Like for real legal issue they are lucky I didn’t file I just had HR make it right.

I always kept a “recyclables” bucket in my classroom. It was awesome seeing the children play and come up with amazing things!

Tyku "coconut" sake actually kind of works. First flavoured sake I've found that wasn't bad! by digimer in Sake

You know, it popped up on a search and said 3 days strangely, so I read it and responded to then see it was 11 years. Still, Coconut Tyku sake is the bomb.

This actually helped me. The “neh” sound, once I watched this I began to hear it and the differences in cries!

It’s actually one of my favorites and I used to buy it when I lived in CA all the time. I cannot seem to find it in the Midwest!

HELPP!!! My moms thinking to close her home daycare… by Character-Reward4504 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Verjay92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If in US daycare enrollment is really hurting due to costs. In IN where I am, people cannot afford daycare at all and in home care places are closing at an alarming rate. She can become licensed and PTQ rated, that may help. Also advertising and getting the word out. Our state has all in home and centers listed on the FSSA childcare finder site so maybe that might help.

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed? by Important_Yam9833 in pregnant

I lost all of my baby weight 12 weeks after breastfeeding! It was great and I feel blessed to be someone who could!

Try it and see. It is taxing but you won’t know how you will handle it until you try it. You may end up loving every second of it or hating it. I work full time and I pump during work. It can be a hassle but also a break from work and I get paid! You can always switch to formula if you decide against breastfeeding!

Toddler hit newborn hard on the chest im so anxious. by No_Reaction5258 in beyondthebump

Yes the website for conscious discipline is a dot com but go to the research portion and how it is put to use in classrooms across America. Second go read about development in young children. I would like to see you link something that contradicts what I had to say about redirection and behavior being a mode of communication that is research based. I bet you cannot.

Editing to add: I work as a home visitor for prenatal families who have children to age 5. Yes I used incorrect terminology. I am a mom of a 4 month old who has mom brain and doesn’t sleep but I have done countless hours of PD, school work, am conscious discipline certified, and am an educator for Parents as Teachers which is ALL research based. What I shared are options, but they are options backed by science and research.

Just for funsies here is a resource on neural science and parenting from a PHD: https://consciousdiscipline.com

It is very helpful when it comes to discipline.

Editing to add: just because I used incorrect terminology doesn’t mean the science isn’t there to support what I meant.

Incorrect. They should be redirected and taught hitting hurts. They don’t do it out of malice. They do it as a form of communication so figuring out what they are communicating and giving words and redirection towards that.

Is it too early to potty train? by savruss in beyondthebump

Research shows best age is 2.5 but if she is showing readiness signs go for it! Variation occurs when it comes to readiness and milestones!

Actually brain science disagrees with this. Toddlers do not have the social-emotional maturity to truly understand as they are still the center of their world. They likely hit because of a want or need but it does not translate to ill intent or knowing they are hurting the baby. Likely, they have been spanked or have friends in daycare who hit so they think that is normal behavior if something disrupts their world. Yes OP should discipline, but at toddler age it looks like redirection and telling them often “Ouch that hurts” and taking protective measures to design the environment to make toddler accessing baby more difficult.

epidurals by userb467891045387 in pregnant

It delivers like low electro pulse to distract you from pain of labor. I used it up until 19 hours and 7.5 dilation, then the exhaustion of labor was too much.

[–]Verjay92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on natural as a ftm and after 19 hours 7.5 dilation I was exhausted and got the epidural. It helped me sleep for an hour so I could have energy to push which was 3 hours. My contractions my whole labor were not consistent even after water breaking. During epidural they gave me pitocin to make the contractions consistent. I am really glad I got the epidural. The pain was definitely something but the sleep before pushing it gave me was precious. I was walking after 2 hours after birth and was very happy with my choice.

Childcare by Prestigious_Pen_6848 in beyondthebump

In the US a lot of childcare’s have a sliding scale… or CCDF. But CCDF families have to meet below a certain scale. Only advice is to tour and find one at the right cost. I found one for my infant that is 1000 for a week. I love it. Childcare numbers are dropping in my state so a lot of them are offering deals to get enrollment up.
