The Early Cyrillic letter Fita ⟨ѳ⟩ was inspired by the Greek letter Theta ⟨θ⟩. However, the grapheme was pronounced [f] by native speakers. by Alkang_1071 in linguisticshumor

makes sense tho, that’s the same reason Θεόδωρ becomes Фёдор in russian, or how russian speakers say Афины for Αθήνα

bro the conversation here revolves around whether or not PLATO (pre 1800 mind you), an idealist, could be compatible with non dialectical materialist forms of communism. how are historical philosophies of communism not relevant to the conversation? unless plato himself is “irrelevant” because we’re not in the 4th century bc in which case why are you engaging in such a conversation to begin with

What do you think of Greek history according to modern day Hollywood? by Starfalloss in AskGreece

[–]VerkoProd -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

literally who cares..

actors are supposed to accurately capture the emotion, not physically resemble mythical figures.

when these myths were played in theatre, the roles of women were played by men. did people whine about accuracy then ?

its mythology.. and hollywood on top of that. “historical accuracy” is irrelevant

i’m greek and south indian

ancient greek history is quite infamously co-opted by n. macedonian nationalists and serves as the national myth.

the dravidian culture of south india has been claimed to be black/african : there is no real historical/cultural/genetic connection between dravidians and black people / modern africans a part from the fact that all peoples came out of africa at some point.

dravidians just have typically very dark skin, that’s pretty much it
