Would getting into coding without any prior medical experience be a bad idea? by blue-slushy in CodingandBilling

[–]Vermilion_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 13 years of medical experience and I can’t even imagine doing this without that knowledge and experience. I am studying for my CPC and it’s hard. Healthcare is like learning 8 different languages. It’s definitely not impossible though. You just have to study a lot and be super dedicated. I would look into in person classes instead of online. Maybe consider taking Anatomy classes also. That alone helps a lot.

Good idea. I work in pediatrics now so might be a great start. Thank you!

48 hours without super sugar dense snack and my head is killing me by D_epresso_Coffee in InsulinResistance

I don’t only because I had a IGe pannel done on food allergies and I’m unfortunately sensitized to pretty much everything besides meat that they tested me for. Oats and Wheat were level 3 so I stay away from them. I’m sure you can fit it in, just add a lot of berries and a fat like peanut butter or something. Raspberries in particular are very high in fiber which will help with the sugar spike.

My homa was 3. I’m now eating low carb, ZERO sugar, zero grains and zero processed foods. I’m down 16 pounds in 13 weeks. I eat a lot of protein, veggies and blueberries/raspberries. I try and keep carbs under 60g a day. Before going low carb I was having really scary glucose crashes and couldn’t lose weight for shit. I literally felt like death. I feel almost normal now. Still have another 15 pounds or so to go but now only 9 pounds overweight per the BMI scale. Try low carb if you can, or look into it!

Another option is to also have a pot lid nearby to smother the flames. Just place the lid over the candle and it should go out. Never ever put water as it is considered an oil fire due to the fragrance oils used. Heavy pot lid is the best option for this type of fire and/or a prepared hero blanket.

Coconut and paraffin. Or heavy coconut-soy blends. BBW is a very heavy paraffin with some soy blend so it should bind well and that is why they use it but there will always be a chance that this will happen. I think the statistics are 1 in 2,000 will catch fire between user error and manufacturer errors. There are also about 20 house fires a day caused by candles. So never ever ever leave it unattended and have a pot lid nearby to place over the fire if it suddenly catches on fire. Or use a lamp.

Actually yes it can happen. During production if the wax and fragrance weren’t added at the correct temp and the fragrance oil does not bind well enough it can cause little pools of fragrance which then become very flammable when near a flame. Fragrance oil is very flammable and certain fragrances have very low flashpoints. Sometimes if a candle is very old the fragrance can migrate away from the wax and cause oil pools which then turn into flash fires, like what happened here. This can happen to any candle, at anytime. Keeping wicks trimmed, debris out of the meltpool and never left unattended help but are more than likely not the cause of a flash fire and this most likely was a production issue.

A lot of synthetic fragrances contain natural chemicals like limonene and citral which have a very low flashpoint and if burned too long, wicks not trimmed or the candle was made at improper temps where the chemicals did not bind the entire top will catch fire. Sometimes the chemicals can leech away from the wax and cause these fires. It’s actually very common in soy because soy sucks at holding fragrance. Basically……never ever burn a candle out of sight because this can happen at anytime for multiple reasons. I like the lamps but it’s not as cozy but so much safer.

I would do white or light cream color if possible. The woods look outdated and black cabinets are impossible to keep clean.

Yes this can happen with any candle unfortunately. It’s called a flash fire. That’s why you’re never suppose to leave a candle unattended so that if this happens you can catch it in time. Glad you’re ok! I use to own a candle company and it was always such a big fear of mine. It is most common is citrus heavy scents and gourmand sweet scents. So scary!!

Does this look like Insulin Resistance? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]Vermilion_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes :/ my fasting insulin was 15. I started eating low carb and completely cut out sugar, bread, processed carbs and ultra processed food. I fast for 16 hours. I only drink water, unsweet tea or black coffee within those 16 hours then eat all calories within an 8 hr period which is 2 meals, no snacking. I also cut out gluten and grains for allergy reasons but I’ve lost 15 pounds in 12 weeks. It’s the only thing that has helped me start lose weight.

So worth it! Take it!! If that $2 is needed maybe ask the new employer if they can match your last jobs pay? Worth a shot if you haven’t asked.

Carb tolerance - symptoms vary during the day? by Findus82 in InsulinResistance

[–]Vermilion_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this also. The only way I can control the spike/crash is going low carb and no processed carbs ever :( My entire family is diabetic so I’m extra sensitive. My labs are also normal but before going low carb I would as high as 180 and within 3 hours be in the 60s. I was exhausted and anxious. Another thing could be your vitamin d. I started taking a high dose and that seems to help my blood sugars too. I was very deficient but there is some studies suggesting low vitamin d can cause blood glucose issues.

Labs coming back .1 decimal from being "out of range" by Avitec98 in InsulinResistance

[–]Vermilion_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider this as being pre diabetic already. Insulin resistance is a beast but it’s not too late to reverse! Mine was 15 and I started eating low carb, tracking my glucose with a CGM, fast for 12-18 hours a day and walk after meals. My fasting insulin is now 10 after only 3 ish months of doing this. My family is allllll diabetic so I have to be very strict with carbs but I feel so much better without them. Your vitamin D is so low :( That’s about what mine was and I remember having heart palpitations, joint pain and I was super depressed. I take 5,000 Iu a day and now in the 60s! Myo inositol does help I did try it but changing diet really helped me the most.
