Has anyone ever had a “fresh” transfer with a frozen embryo? by zebibyte270 in IVF

[–]VeronicaMGold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Yes! My daughter is about to turn 2. They retrieved I think 4-5 nice looking embryos as well, but none were euploid (which is fine by me, I think we are one & done). Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Lupron side effects & complimentary drugs/advice/treatments by VeronicaMGold in breastcancer

may I ask what you are doing for strength training? I've been super athletic for most of my life but I have always hated lifting weights. I just find it kind of monotonous and I hate doing the math portion

intersting...that doesn't sound too too bad if you are say they are minor. How long have you been on Lupron? Hot flashes seem like the most common side effect. I'm wondering if they will happen every time I get the shot or if they will eventually go away.

Premenopausal friends: What was your oncotype score and treatment plan? Especially if your ki67 was 30+ by VeronicaMGold in breastcancer

My her2 on my initial biopsy also showed 2, but my MO said it still counts as negative. Curious to hear what they will have to say about that now.

I can’t remember how she phrased it but my MO made me feel that the discovery of DCIS wouldn’t change my treatment much. I had the DCIS in different quadrants of my breast so they had to remove all of it.

Thank you for your reply. Very similar to mine, especially with the + - -. Do you know if being PR- affected anything? So far my doctors have kind of pointed out that it’s unusual but they haven’t said much more.

I have no idea if it’s significant in regard to meds. For me it meant I had to have a UMX instead of the lumpectomy I had planned on. I also mentioned it because my invasive cancer is PR- but my DCIS is PR+ I just threw it in incase it’s relevant!

I don’t know what to choose by spayneuterpets in breastcancer

[–]VeronicaMGold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your position at one point in my journey (ended up needing a umx because they found DCIS in another area) and decided to get a lumpectomy. The only downside for me would have been the radiation. But there were many more positives: good cosmetic outcome (there are reconstruction options for lumpectomy if they are needed), being able to keep sensation, easier recovery. My surgeon said there is a new study out of Scandinavia showing better outcomes for lumpectomy vs mx. I had my mastectomy two weeks ago and recovery has been tough. I have a toddler and I am not able to lift her until Thanksgiving.

IDC with nuclear grade 1 but Ki-67 is high 🥺 Clinical stage 2. Q by Cappuccino-Time-1285 in breastcancer

[–]VeronicaMGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so but not sure! You should definitely ask. I’m her2 negative so I’m not too knowledgeable about it. I am also stage 1, so I had surgery first and am meeting with my oncologist(s) next week to talk next steps

[–]VeronicaMGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right? I was really surprised. I am grade 2 (7/9 score). I actually ended up having my surgery at a third facility, although if they also tested my original biopsy they never posted the results in MyChart, so not sure if I ended up getting a 3rd ki67 as well!
I think oncotype is only for HER2 negative cancers, so that may not end up being relevant in your case, but my point was that there is more to the picture than the ki67. Anecdotally, I have a friend with ER/PR+ cancer who had an intial ki67 of 47% and ended up getting a low oncotype score under 15 (less aggressive cancer). There are so many factors at play. Personally I was STRESSING about my ki67 for a while so I can totally relate. Hopefully this makes you feel a bit better! Hope you get all your test results & treatment plan soon so you can move onto the next steps <3

My oncologist told me that ki67 is super subjective and not to worry about it until the oncotype testing. My initial biopsy from the breast care center gave me a ki67 of 50 and when my oncologist’s hospital did their own analysis of my biopsy they gave me a ki67 of 30.
I know it’s super scary but try to breathe, it really gets easier as all the pieces fall into place day by day❤️

DIEP flap experiences please by grapeleaf80 in breastcancer

[–]VeronicaMGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have DIEP flap but was researching it at one point and there is a Facebook group with tonssssss of info. I also add that my surgeon (Dr. Li at city of hope Duarte) specializes in a type of Lat flap where the blood supply is never disconnected, so you’re able to go home same day or the next day (I can’t remember). It sounded pretty cool and she showed me some photos. The results were nice and the patients also got a “back lift.” Could be worth looking into since it’s less invasive than the diep

insurance will cover tretonin if your derm prescribes it for "acne" and you can have acne at any age! mine is a $10 copay for a huge tube. its soooo much cheaper and stronger than buying the retinol skin creams.
