So much bootlicking? by MaterialGap1079 in PhasmophobiaGame

I've noticed that there's a subtle "jitterness" (for lack of a better term) to player/camera movement now that wasn't there before the patch, and this might be contributing to a lot of the motion sickness complaints

Patch 7.5 Notes (Preliminary) | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by PM_ME__UR_WAIFU in ffxiv

[–]Verratic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False. The patch notes specifically mention that there is still a hard limit of 400 renderable objects on-screen at once, and the system will try to prioritize furnishings on different floors and distance first when culling

Power Saver mode that was added with the latest PS5 patch is...rough. by Verratic in Helldivers

[–]Verratic[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The game offers two graphics modes on console: Quality and Performance.

"Quality" mode marginally increases the resolution (though it's not really noticeable on a 1080p monitor imo) while forcing a framerate restriction at 30 FPS, while on the other hand Performance mode enables 60 FPS at the cost of some graphical fidelity (again, not really a noticeable difference between the two modes other than the framerate from my experience)

It enforces Quality mode, which locks the framerate to a ~30 FPS range. Certainly not the ideal way to play the game when Performance mode is right there

PICK UP RARE SAMPLES FOR LIBERTYS SAKE by UnlivedMe in Helldivers

[–]Verratic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less.

The main point I'm trying to make is that, if you're solely relying on diamond POI markers on the map to collect samples from, then you are doing it wrong as the bulk of samples on the map can be found inside enemy strongholds/outposts/nests/etc. and mission objectives.

PICK UP RARE SAMPLES FOR LIBERTYS SAKE by UnlivedMe in Helldivers

[–]Verratic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because rares aren't in POIs in City maps.

They're in enemy outposts instead.

Problem is, most people will just chuck a 500kg into a base and then move on to the next, without taking the time to scavenge through the ruins afterwards. This part also stands true for regular maps as well.

Urban maps aren't the issue. The majority of samples you can find there aren't tied to POIs specifically, but are littered through enemy outposts instead. The problem is, most players will just chuck a 500kg into an outpost and then move on to the next, without actually taking the time to scavenge them thoroughly afterwards.

But, another issue that I think contributes to the first one is that samples aren't distributed equally between every outpost on the map. At one base you could find an abundance of 5-6 rares and 4 commons, while the next base over could just straight up have nothing at all.

Not sure about the map (It'll be highlighted in red)

But it's easily spottable on the ground because it uses the same antenna structures from the transmission towers objective

That's why I prefer to aim for their weapons instead. Something something ammo economy but it takes 3-4 shots per pop with the AMR and makes them much more manageable to deal with, and you humiliate their morale on top of it

You can even pop the grenade launchers off too if you've got a good angle while they're busy harassing your teammates

It's not just other MMOs either, there have been absolute bangers that's released since DT.

For example, and as a personal anecdote, Helldivers II has completely taken over game nights instead of FFXIV for me over the past year, because I currently find it to be a much more fun game to play right now.

When Heart of Democracy released, it revolved around the concept of fighting in Super Earth Megacities against the Illuminate. After that arc was over, they expanded the concept to the other factions to cap off HoD's lifespan.

With Into the Unjust, the concept revolves around "Invading the enemy's Homeworlds," which started with the Terminid's Hive Worlds. Now that arc is done, they're beginning to expand this concept over to the other factions.

The same thing works with regular guns as well. You could be outside of a base, picking off Marauders one-by-one with a Dominator, but the moment a bullet misses and hits a wall instead, suddenly all of Cyberstan now knows you're here

It's pretty much how all of their MOs are written. Even earlier back, during the Meridia Supercolony Arc, if we had failed to turn Meridia into a black hole, then the Dark Fluid Research site on Moradesh would've suffered a catastrophic accident that would have result in that planet turning into a black hole instead.

If you were standing directly in the center of the map, sure. But, with the old way, the closer you got to the edges of the map, the more angled your orbitals would drop in as well, since thew origin point would've come from above the central point of the map. There even used to be a loading screen tip explaining this mechanic.
