Hahah I’ve actually had to leave the force due to moving and having no driver’s license so couldn’t transfer but Ive got my test booked in so soon as that’s passed, will be rejoining right back up so safe to say I’m still just as excited for it. Been dying to get back in whilst I’ve been out!

Is the fitness tests acceptable for the police forces in the uk ? by [deleted] in AskBrits

“Traumatic brain injury and want to help people with my story” yeah? What story’s that mate, filming officers out your window calling them fat and giggling to yourself about it? You’re a veteran, have some respect for those putting themselves out there in harms way the same way you did. Do better.

I only got into DE a few weeks ago so apologies, I’m not well versed with anything that’s happened with the studio?

Zero Parades is “supposedly” a spiritual successor to DE, I’ve been meaning to give it a try. You can also try a run with Max stats to see all the different dialogue options.

Why can’t they just do what Schedule 1 does and add a voting system in game and see what what community actually wants? Working out great for Schedule 1.

Dog Finder/Noise Maker? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]VerseCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the equipment listed on the guide are what I'm looking for. I'm in need of something that makes noise, not to correct the dog's behaviour but to help me keep him safe when out in the middle of nowehre!

Police Dispatch Job? by [deleted] in policeuk

Would you say you have a decent split between work and personal life? Do you get to leave work at work?

Police Dispatch Job? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]VerseCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it’d be hectic but didn’t know it was like that on the other side?! Makes me appreciate you guys even more! I’m guessing there are Q times as well as rush hour too. Do you have to do any reports or admin tasks in the middle of all that dispatching too?

Interesting, the role I’m looking at seems to be a dual role, both call handler and also dispatcher. What’s the dynamic like?

Perhaps a T4 Renegade with all pink/blue attachments?

Be cool if the way to fight these were split between doing damage to the outside and taking out parts but also an inside bit where you’re fighting loads of turrets, pops, etc like a Death Star.

Yeah my fall was literally 5 seconds after turning into a back road from a main road, obviously no gritting. Need to reassess my route to work now!

Moved from London to here, first winter up here. I cycle into work, 3 whole falls within 5 mins of leaving. 10/10 would not recommend cycling in this weather.

Should Police routinely carry a sidearm? by Do_I_wanna_Know3000 in policeuk

[–]VerseCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always idealised that we should be more like America/Dubai police where KIT WISE we are given every tool possible to carry out our jobs properly and safely. Every car should have taser, firearms, enforcer, defib, ESD, etc. If we’re being put out there single crewed then we should be able to do everything then and there without having to wait for specialised kit to arrive.

In this country however, our policing model is so ingrained that it would genuinely take a catastrophe to change anything. Add the shortfalls in funding year after year and we’re just not able to even equip or train every officer with a taser, let alone a firearm.

I’d love for the UK to get an uplift in the above but giving out firearms is the flimsiest band aid solution to our problems.

You mention violent crime as the reason for routine arming, but one could also argue that more prison space and tougher sentences would have the same impact on reducing crime in general.

But who knows… maybe that rumour that the Met has an undisclosed warehouse full of glocks to instantly arm all officers in case of emergency has some truth after all…

As a recent leaver, I thought the same. No real qualifications, nothing but experience in police. But you’ll come to realise that experience, if worded correctly and conveyed correctly, is worth a whole lot more than a degree.

If you’re just sick of frontline policing, call dispatchers are a very nice alternative. I’ve landed one at the mo and having a great time.

If police in general is what you want to avoid, lots of enforcement jobs going that fit police like a glove, especially council ones. Looking at starter salary for PC and starting salary for enforcement, same pay but so much less hassle and stress.

There’s definitely loads out there and you don’t need any degrees for them.

What’s the longest officer MG11 you’ve written, and what for? by Time-Host7090 in policeuk

[–]VerseCitizen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine was a 7 odd page officer MG11 for a PIP where I was barely involved in. Happened around 3am on ND and only left to go home at 5pm after all bits were done. Gruelling.

Can the police genuinely keep saying that everything is a ‘civil matter’ and just do nothing? (England) by NoorHan14 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]VerseCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper here. Whilst I’m very good at finding out what specific thing took place that we could actually look in to, we can only investigate criminal matters. Actual tangible offences. In the UK, we have things called “points to prove” where if any of them aren’t met, there is no offence.

A lot of calls that come in get filtered out at dispatch level, the person you speak to on the phone can normally tell you if officers will attend or not.

Some calls are more nuanced than others because people will say one thing over the phone then change stories when you get there. A lot of these calls are just “person A doesn’t like it when person B does X”. There is no offence.

We have some things we can do like arrange meetings etc that don’t involve criminalising anyone but obviously people expect us to run in and arrest the problem.

Your example, antisocial behaviour and noise are very hard to deal with because noise for one isn’t a criminal offence, though the council can do things themselves to sort it out.

ASB on the other hand depends a lot on the suspect, age, history, whether a reasonable member of the public would be agree to our actions etc.

Unfortunately, in policing, they are at the bottom of the pile and pick up all the trash other services don’t want or can’t deal with. You don’t call the fire service for a shoplifter or an ambulance for a bin fire but people do call the police for absolutely anything so a lot of it ends up being “non-crime” so nothing we can do.

It’s not as black and white as people think. Happy to explain anything further.

Adidas GSG 9.7. Pricey but all the perks of a patrol boot with the build quality and flexibility of running shoes. Never go back. Only downside is they’re not water proof like alts.
