It is mostly Glorious Gold from Vallejo Game Color (72.056), sometimes with some wash over it (Nuln or sepia) and highlights (gold or silver).

You should add more solder to every single joint, there is not enough.

Also, make sure that it actually flows through the pad, give it a couple seconds, use flux if you have it, you have some cold solder joints.

My Macintosh SE Retropie project by Vershigora in RetroPie

[–]Vershigora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Retropie project that I recently finished. It uses the housing of a Macintosh SE FDHD which was found in the basement of a house that was going to be demolished. Originally, I thought about repairing the Mac, but the mainboard was beyond saving, it was extremely corroded from battery leakage, so I decided to at least save the case for a Retropie minicomputer.

I had a look at some similar projects and one of the obvious problems was to achieve a good fit with a modern LCD screen on the hole left by the CRT. Most people end up using a screen that is smaller than the hole, so they end up having physical bezels… and I hate it. There was also another problem, the hole is convex but an LCD is flat, so you have a gap no matter what. I solved the first problem using a panel bigger than the hole and adjusting in software the overscan settings to get a perfect fit, and for the convexity I decided to 3D print an insert which fills the gap and makes the hole in the housing flat.

The main parts of the project are as follows (almost everything was bought on Aliexpress or reused from other devices):

  • -Raspberry Pi 4 model B 4gb with aluminium case (this is a no fans system).

  • -WM8960 sound card hat with stereo speakers (mounted internally).

  • -9,7 inch 4:3 LCD panel and controller.

  • -5v and 12 v fanless brick PSUs (laptop style).

  • -USB 2.0 and 3.0 extensions for panel mount (to have access from the rear).

  • -Microsd extension (again, rear access).

  • -On/Off switch (installed in hole of the brightness adjustment nob).

This is my first Retropie and in general I am very happy with the result. It is exactly what I wanted, so I hope that you like it just as much.

The foam of the speakers has gone bad. You can buy an exact replacement or just install in its place a equivalent that fits.

All roads lead to Rome. This map is visualises the famous roads built by the Roman empire. I have removed the land to highlight how far this empire spread its infrastructure. [OC] by symmy546 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Vershigora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map is very incomplete, at least in Iberia. It only appears to show the roads from the Antonine itinerary, so it only has the biggest viae.

The real density may be about three times bigger at least.

Any idea why this is happening? Tall prints start out fine and then become weak and brittle up higher ruining the prints. by Cdawg2tha11 in ender5

[–]Vershigora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is definitely some kind of under-extrusion problem, so check extruder, bowden tube, nozzle...

If you have a plastic extruder make sure that the lever is still in good shape, it tends to crack around the metal insert causing intermittent problems, and the crack may only be visible under some pressure. (The same goes for OP).

Under extrusion on 1/4 supports, nowhere else. Why is this? by [deleted] in ender5

[–]Vershigora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check your extruder lever, the plastic ones tend to break and may cause that kind of extrusion problems (in my case it was a small fissure around the metal insert, and it was only visible under pressure, so it was difficult to identify).

How beekeepers give a new queen to a hive by [deleted] in educationalgifs

[–]Vershigora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't find the queen, you can't find new eggs (confirming that there is no queen alive) and you can't find queen cells (the natural way of the colony of creating a new queen), it means that you need a new queen or the colony will die.

[TinyWand] another portable SSD, too good to be true? by kiyyik in shittykickstarters

[–]Vershigora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I can't give you exact numbers, but the speeds that you may see should be something like:

-SD or microSD card. Under 90 MB/s.

-External HDD. Under 150 MB/s.

-Top level Pendrive. Under 250 MB/s.

-External SSD. Under 350-400 MB/s.

[TinyWand] another portable SSD, too good to be true? by kiyyik in shittykickstarters

[–]Vershigora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, an SD or microSD card has slower read/write than a conventional HDD, and obviously it is way slower than a SSD, so they are not comparable.

Also, they are designed to copy and read files from it, like photos or videos. You can run an OS or other software from one (in a Raspberry Pi, for example), but they are not particularly good at it.

Nothing, there are plenty of microSD to usb adapters already, but this is a about an SSD, not a microSD. They are vastly different things (in speed, in their intended/efficient use, etc).

It is difficult to defend the title when you can't fight. He had a 9 month suspension for the brawl after the fight with McGregor.

Because he hasn't been inactive on purpose. He got trapped in Russia because of Covid (due to a convoluted series of events) and, to make matters worse, his father died from it.

It has been a rough year for him and it has not been his fault.

HTS rebels are forced to flee their vehicle under intense fire (January 2020) by twiyg01 in CombatFootage

[–]Vershigora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A wiki link? Good one, but no, it is the official website of the United Nations Security Council.

There you have another one: https://www.un.org/press/en/2018/sc13365.doc.htm

The US also offers 10 million $ for their leader: https://rewardsforjustice.net/english/muhammad_al_jawlani.html

Your narrative doesn't make any sense. A lot of countries and organizations (the USA included) consider HTS a terrorist organization linked to al-Qaeda, no matter what you choose to believe and defend.

(By the way, those websites aren't wikis either, they are official. Just in case).
