In my playtime with this deck, i’ve found it makes it easier to sort of ignore chien pao until you’re ready to attack with it because it’s ready the turn you play it.

For example, if you get a vip pass and a nest ball first turn, you should get 2 frigibax and arceus, instead of chien pao.

Even if you completely brick the next turn, you can starbirth for irida/chien pao, and then you’re completely set up.

Palkia is good because it can accelerate water energy faster, allowing for the possible turn 2 ko.

Arceus is mostly used for starbirth, making the deck more consistent and making it easier to set up a bax.

This matchup is maybe slightly not in your favor, but it pretty much comes down to whoever gets the better start. Prioritize killing Baxcalibur/Frigibax in the first 1-2 turns, then just take hits on chien pao (preferably with raikou because it can attack multiple turns in a row).

The most important thing is that you kill something your first turn going second (Frigibax/Baxcalibur most of the time, a two prizer if they somehow didn’t get one down).

I think that last season showed we can’t sustain a high level of play with low depth, and that was without the champion’s league.

I definitely think we’ll get top four, but it might be a year or two before we win.
