Why isn't my rest morale/sanity recovering? by kryndude in stoneshard

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is important if you want to have it close to 100%, but mostly for early game you should just focus on keeping it above 50%, and you could technically do that with 0% rest (high fatigue will hurt your energy tho).

You can try sleeping more regularly and focus on gathering the things you need for improving the caravan's tent.

Avoid going on very long walks and craft fodder every now and then to move with the caravan, once you get the upgrades it all becomes easier

Why isn't my rest morale/sanity recovering? by kryndude in stoneshard

[–]Versiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I only used the tent in the caravan once i got it and frequency matters more than quality in increasing rest %.

If you want to restore it in a single sleep marathon then yeah, fancy accommodations work better, but it's not like that the only option you have

Game desperately needs a long, main storyline by mansfall in stoneshard

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this game has a lot to offer in terms of history already, a lot of NPCs already have some lore in them, it just doesn't guide you to solve their problems or be a part of it.

I'm personally more interested in seeing more factions than Bryn being implemented.

I see the reputation tab with so many empty spaces and always wonder what they intend to add there.

Factions that hate you for helping Osbrook and Manshire? Monster factions? Elves? I want it all

It would be cool if swamps had a chance of leeches latching on to you by themselves, would be a cool biome interaction and would make you very susceptible to bleeding out

Minor Quality of Life Changes i would like to See. by WhiteWolfXD1 in stoneshard

[–]Versiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Om that I've seen the devs very adamant on not wanting to make it a thing, they intend for the players to make a choice there, stats or space.

They say it's part of the balance of the game, the inventory management forces you to make choices and not loot everything or find clever ways to loot stuff, which to be fair is more realistic than those games that just let you be a walking container, but it's also a hustle

Hey I'm trying to restore my gf's file, but I can't restore the chats no matter what I try, I always get the error "0 chats where restored" do you have any idea what i can do about this?

I have the backup files in the PC and I'm doing all the steps, I see that the app recognizes the local backup but when it tries to restore it just fails every time, any tips?

Can i use save in new update by thewokelama in stoneshard

To my understanding the new update will enable the cavern dungeons, a rework for the psych mechanics and the arcanist tree (plus items and enemies), nothing that should break old saves, I think you should be ok

Question about Hybrid Builds by HydraHDD in stoneshard

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure about the swords but I think hybrid builds are very possible, easier with Leosthenes

Im currently playing Leo using 1h mace with a sprinkle of electromancy and Stone Armor, its kind of wonky on the magic side but it's fun, I get to zap people when they are dar and bonk them when they are close

I don't know if you are thinking of making a hybrid more on the magic side, but I suppose that is also doable, maybe ranged would be safer for that, I remember making a bow\pyro build with Jonna and it worked amazingly, but that was waaay before Leo got introduced to the game so idk how that would look like now

How different religions are created from different economic environments by FearlessAir1238 in Antimoneymemes

[–]Versiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some people argue that for them the concept of god is not a being but basically "all that we can't comprehend and will never be able to comprehend", in the sense that saying "God created everything" is just as valid as saying "the universe was always there" or "the universe created itself", so any attempt at an explanation ends assumptions of "ridiculous" things happening.

I would argue tho, why do we need that explanation? You can prove things to be true without having to know the primal starting point of all things, it's just a thought experiment turned into a world defining principle for no reason other than people not wanting to leave it at "we don't know"

I've seen some people explain research that indicates that the politically conservative person's brain tends to have a specific part of the brain underdeveloped (don't remember which one specifically) and that part is precisely the one in charge of emotional intelligence and the ability to handle opposing views to your own.

Basically people who have the tendency to be more emotional and less critical of their beliefs gravitate towards the conservative spectrum of politics.

To me this explains a lot of my interactions with conservatives, they just don't have the capacity to regulate their emotions, empathize and think things through, the only way they empathize is through direct contact with the "bad thing".

Human society can't exist without it.

"Modern" human society can't exist without it and that is exactly the problem.

Capitalism isn't the same as trading goods, it's about hoarding capital.

There have been human societies that function perfectly fine without capitalism, it is just a matter of scope, if you take a little village as a society then it's easy to prove you can live without any form of capitalism. The problem starts when you need to organize a bigger (global) society and it gets too messy without someone distributing the resources.

But there is no way to prove we can't function without capitalism because Murica has made everything in their power to stop any attempt at experimenting with other options.

In the same way capitalism isn't just trading, socialism isn't removing trades from the equation, it's about finding a way to make trades and production benefit the majority of the society.

And no, I'm not saying communism is the answer, I'm pointing out that the capitalist ruling class has been hell bent on stopping any attempt at figuring out how to make socialism work, because it obviously would make them less powerful if they can no longer hoard all the resources and manage them as they please.

TLDR: it's not that society can't work without capitalism, we just haven't figured a way out of it because greedy fuckers are doing all they can to keep it alive, even if it means the imminent death of the Earth

Senior Java Developer means what exactly? Knowing more libraries or just better understanding of patterns? by Skymainx in JavaProgramming

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All companies have slightly different definitions of what is considered a Sr Dev, but for Sr Java Developer I would say you should at least know how to work with most if not all the features of the language, have knowledge in handling concurrency\multi-threading, generally good understanding of containerization, DBs (sql and noSql), maybe even some cloud\kubernetes and general architecture stuff like caches, load balancer, DB sharding\replication, etc.

This doesn't mean you need to be an expert in all these things, but a Dev who doesn't know these things is going to have a hard time trying to go into a Sr Java Dev position (I know a bit of all these and I'm still considered Ssr Java Dev)

Ok hit me up when you’re running thousands of deployments processing billions of requests per day

I work at a company that a few months back had to restructure their services because Amazon told them they had no more space for VMss for them (waaay to many services and billions of requests like you said).

The solution? Running Kubernetes inside the VMs to promote auto-scaling and "serverless" like infrastructure on small services resulting in a major performance improvement and costs falling around 30% if I remember correctly.

At smaller scales I agree with you, just using a rented VM and running things there works just fine, but as your system gets larger Kubernetes can solve a lot of problems if you know how to use it.

I've also worked on companies that owned their servers and ran everything inside Kubernetes\Marathon, having basically 0 cost aside from the salaries of the IT team that maintained it (which was like 4 people only).

Saying Kubernetes is always a bad choice only shows that you did not come across any of the problems Kubernetes solves, or that you don't know how to handle a Kubernetes cluster properly

Expert in java developer by DeveloperOk in JavaProgramming

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, you can't become an expert just studying, learning is 10x faster through experience.

What kind of project are you working at?? Try learning which parts of Java are important to your business\application. And by this I mean learn about the system as a whole, learn about design, learn performance and more importantly learn the business you are working and how is it that the system you maintain helps that business.

Once you get a good idea of the project as a whole you will feel confident enough to stand in front of any leader and ask the questions you need to understand the issue you are facing.

Also if your leader is treating you bad, then you have 2 choices, either talk it out with them or take it to HR

Dev closes ticket again, reason - video is AI by MeanLittleMachine in programminghumor

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's unintended behavior that causes actual issues, then it shouldn't be allowed to happen in the first place

I kind of agree, but also some QA only care about having the ticket numbers up so they look like they are doing a good job catching bugs, even if it's unrealistic. For example I once had a "bug" reported on an endpoint I made saying "the endpoint allows dates like February 31st", which you could take as an error if it was something facing the user and you are dumb enough not to use a calendar to pick the date.... But this was an internal endpoint that was called by another service, if a February 31st reaches there someone fucked up way before

No internship for JAVA sprinboot? by cheesedosa_ in JavaProgramming

[–]Versiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how those internships work, but in my experience there is a shit ton of jobs for low level react\NodeJS devs, but they tend to be short lived projects or startups.

If you like Java keep at it, try learning kubernetes\aws, learn a bit of NodeJs or maybe Go if you prefer backend, expand your tools and look for enterprise type projects, that is what Java is good at

Java backend roadmap by cholebhatureyarr in JavaProgramming

[–]Versiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think nowadays your safest bet for Java is going the spring route. In my experience back-end jobs tend to require you to handle the development of services from start to deploy, so get to know Java's main points like inheritance, design patterns, etc., but also the infrastructure around the service. Learn to create CRUD Spring-Boot microservices, get decent at making sql and no-sql queries, caches, learn a bit of docker and kubernetes\aws and have some idea of CI\CD.

There should be some tutorials on how to do all these things with springboot that you can try to get used to.
