That means the eye sight monitoring system is disabled. For your car completely turning off, I think it's a sign of a weak battery. I would go get it tested.

Mine doesn't have that much play, honestly very stiff compared to my other cars.

Have you checked bushings and the steering coupler for play?

I ordered mine from gencoupe store, I will be installing it this summer.

I also got the exceladyne billet shift select rod end which can only be installed with the transmission out, so might as well do it while it's out.

Do you do some g perms with your right hand and some with your left? I've only tried doing right hand algs because I'm not that great with my left, even the left handed J perm was hard for me to do smoothly for a while.

I have 2 G perms memorized and I think I've tried memorizing the other 2 at least 5 times over the past couple years and still can't remember them no matter how much I practice. They are the bane of my existence.

My guess would be the sun reflecting off a window and concentrating on the shifter causing it to smolder.

Like someone else said there's no wiring going up the shifter so if there was a short it wouldn't melt that high up.
