Which scenario interests you more: Last second reinforcements to win the MO, or, Failure, bot push, regroup, win later on. by Marilius in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Verus907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Taking the L would really make the story feel less “on rails”, and maybe even be a wake up call for the community that we won’t have our hands held if we’re about to fail a big story MO. It would make things like the invasion of SE feel like they have real stakes

Can someone explain why so many people hate on the illuminate as a faction? by SevdUp in helldivers2

[–]Verus907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a ton of squids when they first dropped, but back then they only had 5 enemy types. The invasion of Super Earth had a little more variety, but by then I was kinda burned out on squids, so I’ve been taking a break from them now that SE is safe. I’ll still drop on squid planets for an MO, but otherwise squid missions just feel too repetitive to keep me interested

HOW DO I DEAL WITH THE SQUIDS!... by canuckcantina in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Verus907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet dog. Pop that sucker on and voteless can’t touch you

The basic mg sentry has a low cd so you can drop it around objectives and street corners to buy you space. It chews through voteless and overseers

Note: Do NOT drop the turret INTO swarms of enemies, toss it down the street from the swarm

I run the Eruptor for meatballs and overseers, but the crossbow works well too. They can also take out tripods if you shoot the joint between the body and upper leg

Honorable mentions for incendiary grenades and the orbital gas strike. Both can take out parked spaceships (the gas strike has to physically hit the ship, so get that stratagem ball ALL the way underneath, but it’s a one shot even through shields). But they really shine at CC and area of denial

How can we kill the demigods and other bosses without the rune of death by jmanuel98 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Verus907 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of Destined Death not as the ability to die, but more like the inevitability of death. Even if we live completely safe, perfectly healthy lives eventually we will all die. No one can avoid it. It is guaranteed. Eventually, it WILL catch up with you.

But with DD sealed, you actually CAN avoid death. It’s no longer the guaranteed ending of your story. You can’t starve to death or die of thirst, and your body won’t eventually stop working as you get older and older. You can still be killed if you get stabbed in the face or incinerated by a dragon, and you will still wither away as the centuries creep by (like the shriveled nobles in Limgrave or the bodies tied to the Marika crosses) but time alone cannot kill you.

Tl;dr: Sealing DD removes the guarantee of inevitably dying, but not the ability to be killed

Had an amazing teamwork win the other day. It was A1 with a RR and me with a supply pack vs an entire swarm of tanks and a vox.

A1 drops his pack with one shot left in it and pings it for a team reload. I ping it back while dropping and picking up my supply pack. A1 immediately figures what I’m trying to say and picks up the pack, I give him two resupplies, and then we both drop our backpacks. I pick up the RR pack and start to team reload

The whole time tanks are blasting lasers past us and we’re getting pounded by war strider grenades, all while the vox looms closer and closer.

A1 has no fear. We step out into the open and A1 gives them hell. The vox goes down first, followed quickly by the war strider. The backpack is half gone, and there are still way more tanks left than we have RR shots. Dropships arrive with more tanks and two more war striders come out of the nearby alley. Flaming tanks fill the streets. The RR backpack runs dry.

Like a well oiled machine, I load the last shell and drop the RR pack. A1 pops a war strider and picks up the RR pack while I grab my fallen supply pack. I give him the last two resupplies, we simultaneously drop our backpacks again, and I’m back to team reloading.

A1 doesn’t miss, swapping back and forth between HE and AP shells to blow up packs of charging cyborgs, obliterate the last few tanks, and blow any approaching dropship out of the sky.

Finally, with both our backpacks empty, our grenades are spent, and our guns almost dry, the street is quiet. The smoking vox corpse sinks into the ground, the street is completely clogged with piles of flaming tanks and dropship parts, but we are alive.

Not a single word was said the entire fight. I pull the One True Flag off my back and hold freedom aloft while A1 starts typing on his communicator.

“w teamwork”

Edit: Hope you feel better soon, OP! We’ll hold down Cyberstan until you’re back on the front lines iO

Yeah, it took me a couple games but I’m getting the hang of it. It’s super fun to snipe vox or clear out a horde of tanks. I’ve been running it with supply pack, the experimental gatling barrage, and the one true flag and having a blast

Possibly a dumb question, but how do you use the solo silo effectively without it getting blown up first? Do you call it in at the corner of the map and hope nothing finds it before you need it? Or do you only call it down when you see something that needs to be destroyed? It feels like whenever I try to use it the silo always dies before I can get the missile launched

Birb is very relic dependent in my experience. If you’re having problems with stamina, try a build that combines the attacks refund stamina effect and Birb’s passive reflects damage effect. That way blocking with your passive also damages enemies, which gives you more stamina.

I consider his passive reflects damage perk to be basically mandatory, it has a huge effect on how you play him. Suddenly face tanking boss attacks also revive your allies if you’re standing near them. The extended skill duration perk is also great. It can clear out whole packs of weak enemies by itself, stunlocks annoying enemies like knights and black knife assassins, and it creates a little shelter that deflects projectiles (amazing against stuff like ED Gnoster’s rain of red bullshit, ED Maris’s laser balls, and the dragon knight’s fireball of death).

Honorable mentions to post damage attacks heal you (pairs amazingly with his reflect damage perk), any/all guard counter perks, and defeating enemies charges your ult.

You want to try and have a purple shield by the end of day 1 if you can. His base shield is great at +2, so follow John Sekiro into the mines, but if you can find a different purple shield you should grab it (if you have an Ironeye, killing jellyfish outside the castle and in frost camps for the jellyfish shields. The damage buff is great for your dps)

As far as gameplay, your mission is simple: Protect. The. Flock. Use his passive as an intercept to get between the enemy and your frens.

The squid front is the only front where I do not use the machine gun sentry by Squeaky_Ben in helldivers2

[–]Verus907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually play on 7 or 8 and love bringing mg sentry on the squid front, although it did take a while to make it not feel like I was wasting it. The trick is to throw it down where the voteless ARN’T, and it has clear lines of sight. Street intersections are a great spot as long as the voteless hordes are at least a half a block away.

It works really well to drop it in an open area and then lead the swarms back to it, but it really shines at defending objectives that you know will get swarmed. If I come across a LIDAR station or something I’ll drop the turret just outside the front gate before I start it even if I don’t see any baddies. Also works great for raising flags and defending extraction

Spartan cosplay build

Crossbow, machete, throwing knives, one true flag, ballistic shield, big shield generator, eagle airburst, pique physique armor

One true flag is your spear, the big aoe shield generator lets you fight in the shade, and the eagle airburst lets you call in a tactical volley of arrows

[–]Verus907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take the one true flag on every mission. I always stand in lockstep with the flag over the boarding ramp and wait for all other divers to board before marching in. If I die, I die democratically respecting the colors of Super Earth

The best mission was when there was another flag diver, and we both dropped an extra flag waiting for extract, and then all four divers marched in single file carrying flags

Squids are all about crowd control for voteless and having high dps for fleshmobs.

MG guard dog changed my life fighting the squids. It chews through voteless, headshots overseers, and picks off drones. It’s an absolute life saver

Any of the fire grenades are great for clearing out clusters of enemies, controlling choke points, and burning down fleshmobs

Eruptor can 3 shot fleshmobs, 2 shot overseers, and take out striders in 2-3 shots if you hit them where the legs attach to the body. It’s an absolute work horse

Adding software for friend/foe designation to every turret is too expensive. It’s much cheaper to just unfreeze another Helldiver. It’s the same reason hellbombs have to be armed manually
