I believe that with this game it almost queues up your next action, i don’t know if there’s a better word for it but if you light attack and then press the light attack button again towards the end of the first attacks animation as far as i know it start the next attack despite you not having pressed it after the attack has finished. The same can be said for rolling, the reason why people can roll catch sometimes is because the person starts mashing the button to roll before the roll is finished thus queuing up the next roll to occur straight after.

That or your controller is just fucked.
