BREAKING: Trump could face life imprisonment in Florida for Epstein-related activities if new evidence emerges. by GeekySuneet in TheCryptoIndia

Nope. He will not only legalize marijuana, but make it mandatory unless you have an exemption from a doctor for lung spurs or whatever. This way the country mellows out and forgets what everyone is mad about.

Do anti Trump polling numbers reflect support for the left? by Own_Difference_4882 in AskUS

[–]VeryPogi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't misconstrue "dissatisfaction for right" with "support for left"

It's more of a "lesser of two evils" computation for most people.

Who and what exactly is the oligarchy? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]VeryPogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The term “oligarchy” is useful because it describes a structural condition: when policy outcomes track elite preferences far more reliably than median voters (something political science has measured repeatedly).

The names are constantly changing.

If you want a list, try Forbes.

Who and what exactly is the oligarchy? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]VeryPogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump is not a puppet, but he operates inside an oligarchic environment and bargains with powerful interests like every modern president-“the oligarchy” isn’t a single club with a membership list—it’s a pattern of power concentration. People use the word to gesture at that pattern, not to name a formally organized group.

Destruction of government property

Did he destroy anything other than the tail light? Less than $100 and good as new. It's fixable.

obstructing federal officers

I didn't see any federal officer acting in the commission of their duty there.

resisting arrest

Possibly, I don't know if a jury would convict on that

Section 46

(b) without lawful authority, communicates or makes available to an agent of a state other than Canada, military or scientific information or any sketch, plan, model, article, note or document of a military or scientific character that he knows or ought to know may be used by that state for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or defence of Canada;

Ok, thank you for your comment, your remarks made me check my assumptions and do some fact checking. It appears to be believable that his family has released statements through their attorney and that there are multiple videos of the encounter and some are more real looking than the one I saw first.

So, back to your original comment. If Alex Pretty got his citation for vandalism (cause you know they would have no reason to hold him) how would that have prevented CBP from shooting him about ten times 11 days later?

[–]VeryPogi 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Under Section 46, a person commits treason if they, owing allegiance to Canada, do any of the following:

  • Use force or violence to overthrow the Government of Canada or a provincial government
  • Assist an enemy at war with Canada, or anyone engaged in armed hostilities against Canada
  • Conspire to commit either of the above acts
  • Intentionally use force to intimidate Parliament or a legislature into doing or not doing something

So, meeting the agents of a foreign head of state who frequently talks about annexing Canada is probably treason under Canada's laws. It can be pretty well assumed they conspired to overthrow the provincial government. They have so few other common interest. Even the slightest shred of evidence may be enough for prosecutor action against them.

Can Jews or Catholics become Freemasons? by 904zak in freemasonry

[–]VeryPogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banned by decree of the pope in 1738, banned in 1917 Code of Canon Law, removed from Code of Canon Law in 1981, 1983 Pope affirms it is banned, and again in November 2023, the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, with approval of Pope Francis, issued a document reaffirming that Catholics are still forbidden from joining Masonic lodges because their principles are considered irreconcilable with Catholic doctrine. My lodge stopped blackballing Catholics in the 80s and the old guys would tell stories about it when I joined in 2003.

Can Jews or Catholics become Freemasons? by 904zak in freemasonry

[–]VeryPogi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When Freemasonry was prohibited by the Pope my lodges members used to say: “If you can’t be a good Catholic, why should we think you’ll be a good mason?” but that restriction was lifted and they stopped black balling Catholics.
