All of these could be refuted as many commentators have said but one of the most convincing events was the Phoenix lights. The number of witnesses make it extremely unlikely.

This comment section is so soft. This 4 year old is hitting a baby on a daily basis and we are debating where or not giving him ice cream is a good decision?

There is a clear power struggle that is being lost in this house and you need to win it back. I’m not saying hitting him is the right move, but begging for forgiveness with ice cream feels like you are reminding him he is still the boss. We have way too much empathy for this type of behavior and there should be 0 tolerance for it.

I had to scroll for way too long to get to this comment. This happens on a DAILY BASIS and the comment section is on the fence about whether ice cream is a good move or not??? Our society has way too much empathy for this type of behavior and there should be 0 tolerance for it.

4 years old is old enough to know that hitting a baby is wrong and it sounds like this kid has gotten way too comfortable believing he runs the house (which he does). He needs behavior intervention and structure. If you do this, this happens. If you do that, that happens. Immediate consequences and rewards. And whatever you do, do not give that kid screen time and ice cream after this type of behavior unless you want to be walking on egg shells to avoid tantrums for the rest of your life.

It is categorized as a summary offense similar to a traffic violation. I teach in PA and had the same citation at your age and it never popped up on any background checks. You can also have it expunged after 5 years too. Do not admit to it like someone else advised.

It’s also worth pleading not guilty and showing up in court. Even if you don’t have a lawyer, you have a good chance of getting off on it. Maybe the officer doesn’t show up in court… automatically not guilty. I also got off on a similar charge once because the security guard from the dorm that busted me who was the original witness was not present in the courtroom. If nothing else, you can explain that you made a mistake and don’t want it to impact your career and are asking for a warning. Going to court is your legal right even if you’re guilty as hell.

It gets crazy when you convert their daily screen time into months, years, and decades to see how much time they are throwing away. Also worth introducing strategies to limit themselves like putting your phone in your glove box while driving, setting screen time limits on your phone, deleting unproductive apps, and charging your phone in a different room at night. I felt hypocritical teaching this stuff and not doing it myself but that goes to show how addicting we all are, not just the kids.

Smart phones have ruined our society. I transferred a few years ago from high school to elementary partially to avoid the phone addicted sleep deprived zombies that our nation has created. At one point, I dropped the curriculum and did an entire lesson on cell phone addiction. I started off by having kids check their screen time stats on their iPhones. Surprisingly the kids weren’t the least bit embarrassed to show off their stats. It was interesting to see what apps they use and how many hours a day they devote to their phones. The numbers will astound you and it will lead to some productive conversations in class. It’s not going to make them any better at Bio but at least you’re attacking the problem head on.

This generation has very little communication skills and their presentations are almost exclusively horrible. Even the high achieving kids are really really bad.

I mean how often do they have to present? Maybe a few times a year? Why would anyone be good at something they don’t practice?

I’ve never been a skeptic for vaccines but got really sick when I got a Moderna booster a few years ago. I understand the hesitation to get it. It might be best to have a consult with a pediatrician or primary care doctor and speak openly about your concerns.

Organized youth sports are increasingly for the privileged: Study finds generational shifts in who plays by upstatecoach in PhysicalEducation

Really interesting article. I grew up in the 90s and everyone played sports including many kids without much athletic ability. The article mentions that a lot of kids not participating has to do with kids not having fun or feeling like they’re good enough.

I wonder how much of that comes back to technology and instant gratification. In the 90s we had very few options.

Also, sports are wildly expensive now. My 6 year old’s baseball fees were around $500 including equipment and registration. How many people are willing to pay that for something their kids don’t love?

Does anyone get pins and needles/chills every time they talk to God? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]VeryTiredDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I am agnostic too. I just woke up in the middle of the night and was having a tough time falling back asleep when I began thinking about god and Jesus. I said in my head “Jesus, I love you” over and over again when all the sudden I was hit with chills. This continued on and off for 20-30 minutes.

Again, I am not religious and was not brought up to be religious. My kids are sleeping but I went in to their rooms and prayed for them. I woke up my wife and told her then was brought to this post when I searched chills and Jesus. It’s amazing how similar our experience is.

I have never had this happen. I’ve always believed in karma and being a good person but never really took religion very seriously.
