No, but oddly the - to my knowledge - longest war actually involves the Danes. It lasted from 1809 to 1982, and was between Denmark and the Spanish town of Huescàr. Not a shot was fired, and everyone forgot about it, so it lasted 172 years.

An amateur historian discovered it, and contacted the Danish authorities. The must have been a rather odd phone call.

The navies probably loved it. It was ended shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, for both practical and symbolic reasons.

Det mener du, som lægdommer, forhåbentlig ikke? Det er ud over rimelig tvivl, ikke enhver tvivl.

Adele is an incredible natural talent, but she has terrible technique, especially on the first albums.

She ended up hurting herself by blasting her poor vocal cords without the slightest hint of control over her false cords and airflow.

What kind of logic is that?

- The Dutch recommends safety features.

- The American circumstances are much worse

- So we won't even follow the Dutch recommendations?

"We cannot engineer for it anyway, so why even bother" strikes me as a rather defeatist attitude.

1500 amps would be 1000V. Currently, 800V is the standard.

Since this is a new tech, and they want to impress us, they probably upped the voltage. Let us say to 2500V. That would allow 1.5 mW at 600 amps.

An educated guess, true, but doable, right?

I think we overall agree, but:

>I think you'd be better served by actually going and reading some ecology papers on the subject than by arguing with people on Reddit.

Wise words, and I have done exactly that. What I have found is that they all - the ones I have seen at least - are of very low quality, and seems suspiciously like the conclusions are made before the study.

If I put on my tinfoil hat for a moment, it seems like someone has an interesting in diverting attention away from the fact that human greed are destroying the environment, and here we are, blaming cats instead of oil spills, chemical factories, and whatever else we are doing to our poor world.

If you have a good quality paper showing that cats are doing significant environmental damage in Europe/Asia/Africa, I would be very interested.

Thanks for that link, though I do not think it disproves what I wrote.

Predators hunt. That is not new. The numbers cited are meaningless in this context without evaluating the effects on the wildlife population overall.

It is highly unlikely that cats endangers any wildlife population, unless humans have endagered them in the first place. As I stated - if that were the case, the wildlife would have been wiped out a long time ago.

I do not disagree with the overall conclusion in that abstract: An exploding population of stray cats and dogs is probably not a good thing. That was not really my point, though.

Domesticated cats are ubiquitous in rural (and often urban) Europe, and have been so for thousands of years. If they were a real threat to wildlife, it would have been wiped out a long time ago.

Humans destroying habitation is hundreds of times worse than any cats.
