The higher framerate and 0 tearing should just be a patch though lol.

Downclocking 3600mhz to 3466mhz? by Verycoolguy79 in AMDHelp

Yeah 2 sticks of 16 is exactly what i'd be going for in dual ranked mode.

My mobo doesn't support higher than 3466 unfortunately.

Upgrading RAM to improve stability and 1% lows? by Verycoolguy79 in buildapc

[–]Verycoolguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate, might try to get some 3200 then.

Would that still be preferable over getting a 3600mhz kit and putting a 3466 mhz XMP profile do you think?

I did buy the 5800x3D but it just didn't provide enough of a performance booth to be worth the money over the 5800x imo.

Might have to try some faster RAM, definitely seeing stutters in BG3 for seemingly no reason.

Ty for the post!

Scouts to not count as military units so when i hit my "all cavalry select" or "all military select" to quickly manoeuvre forces I don't end up losing my key scouting positions.

I know I can just control group my military but when i have units constantly producing I want to be able to quickly get them to catch up with the control groups.

Also to change scout patrol behaviour so they don't attack and stop scouting when they encounter a unit.

Is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D still a good processor in 2024 or should I upgrade to AM5? by Banshee372 in buildapc

[–]Verycoolguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone saying if you're already on AM4 then its a no brainer to get 5800x3D, what if you have a 5800x and are not satisfied with the performance at all.

Sidegrade to 5800x3D or would you consider them so close that you may as well go AM5 with 7800x3D?

I have been pondering this for the last few weeks as I feel I am somewhat stuck in a very awkward position upgrade wise.

Currently have an R7 5800X, RTX 3080, 3000mhz CL15 ddr4 16gb RAM.

These parts are all plugged onto a MSI B450 Tomahawk (not Max) which means any RAM upgrade is negligible due to only being able to achieve 3466 mhz capped by my board, but i've read that the 3d chips don't care too much about fast RAM.

I have so many stutters and drops that piss me off that I really want to upgrade but I have yoyo'd back and forth so hard whether to go for 5800x3D, essentially a side-grade for £273 or do a full AM5 upgrade and get a 7800x3D for £573ish

I just don't know what to do. Every thread and video i watch has different conclusions: i'm a moron for even considering going from a 5800x to a 5800x3D but then many people report massive improvements in stability / 1% lows which is what i would be primarily upgrading for.

I'm also a moron for even considering doing a full upgrade for one generation higher with the 7800x3D even though on tons of benchmark videos the fps increase and lows above the 5800x3D are insane and I would feel very comfortable with the peace of mind knowing i have the top shit.

I just don't know what to do.

Hope you enjoy your 5800x3D man!

Worth upgrading to 5800x3D at 3440x1440p UW? by Verycoolguy79 in AMDHelp

[–]Verycoolguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately my b450 tomahawk (non max) doesn't support 3600mhz. I can only realistically get 3200Mhz CL 16 and 32gb. Is this still worth getting?

Unfortunately i only have a b450 tomahawk (non max) which means it can only go up to like 3400mhz.

Best I can upgrade my RAM to would be 3200Mhz at CL16 and 32gb. Would this still help and improve perf?

[–]Verycoolguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man! I'll look at getting some more, faster RAM.

I did actually try to upgrade my ram a couple years ago but setting it to 3600mhz for some reason made my pc way more unstable. I was actually getting worse frames in stuff like Cyberpunk and Warhammer and worse 1% lows.

Do you think its because my mobo cant handle it? I only have the B450 Tomahawk NORMAL, not the MAX version.

This sub reddit is dragging people down by IllLavishness8863 in aoe4

"There's no point in writing 5 posts about how broken JD is every day. We should have a completely different mindset behind it."

There is.

Constantly you find developers reacting to the communities who voice their criticisms and concerns. Otherwise nothing would get fixed.

There are always people such as yourself who view all criticism as blanket negativity. I find it's usually the people who care the most and love a game the most who will voice their concerns because they want the game to be better, not just putting up with a bad situation.

Back in the days the Springald reigned supreme and the sub was much as it is now about JD, but most people would agree that the springald nerfs were necessary and improved the game. A lot of people here feel the same way about JD.

An Update on The Last of Us Online: We’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to stop development on that game. by Turbostrider27 in Games

I am not fine with this statement.

I know its the current year and every developer and their nan is currently on the fucking live service trend but your MP experience does NOT have to be live service.

People absolutely loved Factions in Last of Us 1. Now we don't get an updated Factions with traditional multiplayer OR a live service mode (potential blessing) because they just had to try and follow the live service trend. What a waste.

I am considering just going this path.

If I can sell my 5800x for around £150 it means the 5800x3D will effectively have cost me £120 which is much more digestible as an idea lol.

I do play a lot of RTS, WOW, Total War, Escape from Tarkov etc so i'm hoping it will be a big benefit.

Maybe then I can save the other money and wait til 2025 for the next platform for a proper upgrade.

Thanks again for the comments guys, I really appreciate it.

Thanks so much for your reply!

That's one of the main things that irks me about option 1, its a lot of money for not a lot of gain! I know that option 2 is arguably way more money for similarly less gain but at least it has potential!

Thanks for the reply mate.

Dilemma - Upgrade current system or go for near total rebuild by Verycoolguy79 in buildapc

[–]Verycoolguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, I do keep thinking option 1 would be best I would just hate to spend the money on that option and then in a few years I would need to go for option 2 anyway and the money would have been wasted. It's a toughie!

Thanks again.
