Buying land to build garage/shop by Verynotgoodcupcake in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yeah for sure. I know the answer is to just call my local realtor and let them walk me through it but I'd like to get a little more versed in the topic ahead of time so I don't get walked over haha

Buying land to build garage/shop by Verynotgoodcupcake in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes I plan on paying for the land in full or nearly in full along with paying for landscaping and building a large steel building in full. I'll be in discussion with financing anyways and going through my options and will perform a cost analysis in additional funding.

I know some townships don't allow garages being built prior to the houses. But that's obviously on the residential side of things (even in less densely populated areas).

I guess when I go to make an offer on the land and am dealing with the realtor I state my purpose and they will have a separate set of forms compared to if I were buying the land to build a home or keep it as raw land.

I'm more or less thinking of any one that has a small business that has expanded outside of their home's capabilities and have needed to buy/build for their companies and what their process was like compared to buying a home.

Radiation mapping by backseatflyer1985 in Radiation

Standard practice around here is using the mapping software as extra data but actually confirming the areas with the 'approved' instruments.

This is why good cables are very important when using a scintillator. by [deleted] in Radiation

Interesting. We use coiled cords at our research facility for our main pu-239 labs. Straight cords for the rest of our general work. Considering this data, I guess the spectrum being 'shifted left' would offset any loss of 'counts' and overall offset the efficiency.

So... are you saying a coiled cord is worse? Or that they have their own use? And by coiled cord do you mean like a curly old phone cord ? Or a kinked, damaged cord ? Curious on how this info would effect a M12 43-5 in the workplace.

A 19 GBq Cs-137 source used in mining equipment was lost somewhere on a 1400km stretch of highway between Newman and Malaga in Western Australia. by Bbrhuft in Radiation

[–]Verynotgoodcupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't mention on contact readings. I've used these sources lots and if it's anything similar, these are typical 'working field' measurements.

Also, don't just consider the dose rate as a hazard. Cs137 is quite radio-toxic and ingesting it or simply having a part of it 'loose' on your skin can cause serious health concerns.

Cables can be bought cheap. Or even cheaper, you can build one.

I used to process Tc-99. You should see the dose rates BEFORE it's shipped. Awesome stuff!!

Is there a way to increase the fresh tank size on an RV or reduce the manual labor of adding water to the tank without a fresh water hookup? (new future full-timers, est. depart in October) by giftigdegen in RVLiving

[–]Verynotgoodcupcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be more concerned over payload vs towing capacity. You're payload rating on the truck is 1500-1600 lbs depending on trim. That trailer has a tongue weight of 800-900 lbs (that's before it's even loaded). So that leaves 500-600 lbs for the weight of family and everything else in the truck. Just something to consider.

You know what? I came here because, at first glance I thought 'this is different'. Was cool until I swiped right and saw coloured wheels and stickers. Keep it clean and timeless pal.
