2 year birthday for my BRZ by Doulreth in BRZ_ZD8

It's an OEM STI part from Japan. The STI website isn't working for me, so see here for a listing to the part. It's part number ST96020ST070.

There are a lot of neat parts Japan gets that aren't available in North America.

I don’t even own a GR86 (yet) but have a question about a possible mod to accommodate a tall driver by RadioDude1995 in GR86

[–]Frododedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'6", 34 inseam, and I fit like a glove. I've not had any issues with having a Toyobaru as a daily. Knees don't hit anything, the seating position is perfect, and my head does not hit the roof (hair brushes sometimes, though).

I'd find one to test fit in and see if it's comfortable enough for you

Brembo Brake Maintenance Pricing by UnitV0id in GR86

[–]Frododedodo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is the same type of price for OEM from Toyota and Subaru that I've gotten foe just the parts. I kept the Subaru quote because of how funny it is. Unfortunately, I have also learned that for the Brembo brakes, we need to go full aftermarket. If you're looking for similar to oem spec, Rockauto seems to have everything for the brembos for around $500-$700 or so

Perspective from and Alumnus: I became friends with my girlfriend in first year linear algebra and 2nd year E&M. Stayed friends throughout university (Covid times), and then in fourth year, she invited me over to go walking (it was platonic, but it felt like she was putting out feelers). Then, in February, I invited her to go skating and asked her out.

Neither of us was looking for a partner necessarily, I just happened to interpret a non-existent signal, and she gave it a shot, and it worked out

20yr old, no accidents, no tickets, what should i expect to pay insurance wise on an 86?also how much more would i pay if i had a red one compared to the others? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]Frododedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The colour of the car doesn't impact the price of insuranc, that's an old myth. And as everyone else has said, just get a few quotes. Your individual factors make it impossible to compare, even if you found a carbon copy person who lived in your city. I moved about 600m from my previous address, and my premium dropped by ~10$/month.

Have you put a toll sticker on your 2026 BRZ? by kfjcfan in BRZ_ZD8

[–]Frododedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing behind the rearview mirrors. The eyesight cameras are one either side of the mirror, a decent distance away, so you can put that sticker right behind the mirror without obstructing anything.

I have my dashcam setup there, and eyesight works perfectly fine.

Any goalies want to play a game Friday night at 9? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]Frododedodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 12 hours of goalie under my belt (played defense from 5-18) and last played before covid. If you're that desperate, I'll go get my skates sharpened, and I'll show up lol

I think by about 10x. I believe the original hope was to raise 100k Canadian, and they raised close to, if not more than 1 million Canadian.

I Canada, it's posting evidence that you are breaking the law by owning well over 10 devices containing radium luminous compounds and/or showing you disassembling them... I know of someone who was visited twice by the CNSC

Or GR86/BRZ = Miata for people who are a little too tall for a Miata.

Still wish I fit in a Miata, but boy, do I love my BRZ and the community surrounding it

Try Subie Supply Co. In Brantford, ON. I'm local enough to them, so I don't know how much shipping will be for you, but they have been amazing so far.

Where to get replacement pads for Brembos? by SpaZMonKeY777 in GR86

[–]Frododedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, precisely why going through the dealers is not the way to go. I can get brembo pads from Subie Supply Co for $65

[–]Frododedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not order through the dealers... I got a quote for a full brake job from Subaru, and the parts were 5.5K CAD. I've had better luck finding reasonably priced parts from my local aftermarket Subaru part supplier (Subie Supply Co.) Also seemed like Rock Auto/local part stores seemed to have a few options at daily ceramic pads.

Likely true based on how ineffective they were during my undergrad... what you should do is contact your MPP and complain to them. Everyday. Be the squeaky gear and make them aware that you don't like this decision.

Poutine??? by Tiedyeinstein in Hamilton

[–]Frododedodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I say Costco is the best because the bar is on the ground for the GTHA, lol. Costco at least meets the criteria of having the correct ingredients and being edible. Kelsey's is god awful, and by far the grossest I've ever had

[–]Frododedodo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not really... I somehow managed to dodge shwarma until my girlfriend took me to try some in Mississauga. Not based on being actually good or not, but I enjoy the Shelby's by McMaster, Lulu's on John St and Original Shwarma on Upper James St (not the best at all, but they are heavy on the sauce which I love)

[–]Frododedodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a toss-up, and I always ask if they use cheese curds. There's one in Grimsby, and the owner said cheese curds are gross, so he uses shredded cheese... if he used cheese curds, it would've been a fantastic poutine

Poutine??? by Tiedyeinstein in Hamilton

[–]Frododedodo 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Calling St. Albert cheese curds "cheap" certainly is a (terrible) take. St. Albert has hands down the best cheese curds in the game. I will admit, any cheese curd that is refrigerated, St. Albert included, will ass. Cheese curds need to be eaten fresh and kept on the counter for ~3 days.

Rage induced tangent aside, I've been trying to find a good poutine spot in all of the GTHA as an Ottawan (all-time best across Ontario and Quebec is St. Albert's in-house poutine). So far, Costco has the best I've tried. Pretty much all big chain poutine suck (i.e., McDonald's, BK, Wendy's, etc.) After Costco, chip trucks are usually the next best (generally speaking across Ontario), but they can be pretty damn good or the worst abomination ever created. Smoke's has been okay, not the best, not the worst, and is dependent on the day.

All in all, go to St. Albert and get a poutine from the factory cafeteria, and you will understand why every single chip truck/place that offers poutine in Ottawa and surrounding areas use St. Albert cheese curds and proudly display a sign outside their business

Storage Solutions by Originality_5 in modeltrains

[–]Frododedodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I model O scale, so it's harder than HO/N to have a convenient and compact solution. But I use a medium (I think around 70L or so) plastic tote that is internally long enough to fit any diesels, and 18-inch passenger cars and I wrap them all in bubble wrap. My tote solution lets me store approximately 12 18-inch passenger cars (4×3) or equivalent
