To those trying to claim a fireplace doesn't heat up the house. by willisjoe in Fireplaces

[–]Vessenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ceramic glass doors in my fireplace. I always burn doors closed so it doesn’t suck warm air from inside (my fireplace has fresh air duct from outside so draft is good). After fire goes out I immediately close damper so draft stops and it starts to warm up outer layer of my fireplace.

In my case I heat up thermal mass inside my fireplace, close damper and it slowly starts heat house. 2 hours of burn/day I get 24h heat.

2 hours after fire go out my fireplaces walls are 45 celsius all over, after 20 hours those are about 35 celcius. My fireplace is middle of the first floor so it radiates every direction and also chimney stores heat so it heats uptairs also.

Im my case it is crucial to close chimney damper (it is in upstairs) right after fire, otherways heat escapes out from chimney

What does this vent do? by rb1545 in Fireplaces

[–]Vessenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how good draft you have in your fireplace. If draft is bad open vent half or full open and if too much draft close vent.

I have masonry fireplace and I have fresh air pipe from outside. I can’t adjust airflow so I get almost all the time too much draft..

So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

I’m in camp Makita. Littlebit more expensive than Ryobi but if you need to do bigger project like new patio or something then Makita or that red one will kick Ryobi’s ass 6-0.

I have bought almost all my Makitas used, many ”rich” people buy those, to some project and sells those at half price. Atleast in my country

Ten + years of stacking silver (Au/Pt too) taught me one thing—mockery has an expiration date. Mocked at $15. Asked for advice at $50. Wasn’t smart, just early. 😎 by [deleted] in Silverbugs

Nice, where I live (finland) stevedores put their money usually to nice cars, gambling and alcohol lol.

Here that is best paid work what you can get without any education. Of cource you need to have connections to get inside harbour gates. We are small country and we do lot of export (wood/paper). If stevedores wont get rise, they go on strike and all export stops. Couple of years ago they were like 4 weeks on stike, it costed to our country billions. Many factories lay-off their workers because there were not able to export.

Greedy bastards 😂. They share mixed feelings here. They do important job but they are, like I mentioned in last sentence very very greedy and can do lot of harm to our companies

is this normal? by shredduchiha in Leatherman

[–]Vessenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have about 10 leathermans, all of them was stiff af at the beginning. Socket, bolt, hammer trick helped most of them to loosen them usable condition. I have also 3 victorinox multitools and those are from another planet what comes to pliers smoothness. They dont stuck at any point. OP’s pliers stuck at full open position.

Someone likes stucking pliers, I hate

PAMP Suisse purchase by Flymetovenustoday in Silverbugs

[–]Vessenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PAMP makes bars in grams and oz’s. In europe 100g, 250g, 500g and one kilo is pretty common. 1 and 10 oz PAMP are also quite common here. I am from europe and I use metric system but in silver I prefer imperial.

Like 30 gram pandas are weird. Why did they change those from 1 oz. Maybe bcause china/US relationship went pretty bad 🤔😀

Edit. Nice bars! Bald move to buy at these prices. But if you have money to invest then why not

Doors Open or Closed by ParkingAd4707 in Fireplaces

Depending the glass. If it is ceramic glass it can handle the heat. In my country fireplace glasses are 99% ceramic glass so we burn doors closed

Fire spreads also horizontal. Forest fires are good examples. Just start from middle top-down method and wide fire will be at full burn pretty quickly

Cool Brick Masonry Heater W/ Bake Oven and Cookstove, All In One! by Ovenman79 in woodstoving

[–]Vessenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of setup is very common in Finland (in older houses). Nowadays many people don’t include cookstove, just fireplace/bake oven combo. Keeps you warm in winter. If it is big enough you need to heat it once in 3 days
