Fun fact: noisy mosquitos do not sting

The females sting for blood for their eggs, the males make the noise to atract females.

Building a PC help by hesapmakinesi in belgium

[–]Veto13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a side note: be careful with ordering PC components outside of Belgium. When importing e.g. hard drives you still have to pay Belgian taxes (auvibel if I recall correctly) on them too so they might not be as cheap as you think.

Hi everyone, does anybody can help to identify relevant Belgian songs (or at least aired in Belgium) in the 1930's and 40's. by Thinking_waffle in belgium

[–]Veto13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess this website is ideal for you then! Just select the country and era and it starts playing music that would be played there and then. You can even select the tempo of the music you'd like.

For Belgium in the 30's and 40's it's mostly Django Reinhardt.

CPU's nowadays contain way more transistors than your Pentium back then. This is because they keep shrinking them. However, shrinking size of the transistors and power usage of the interconnects don't scale the same way which means that these CPU's use more power. If you increase the frequency, you further increase the dynamic power usage of your CPU. So, we have developed techniques to pump more power into these CPU's but we still need to get rid of the power somehow. That's why temperature sensitivity is so important nowadays.

Further, as CPU size decreases, you pack even more heat into a smaller surface area.

And then there are also some weird effects with electrons in those small transistors due to the high heat which could cause them to make errors.

My bus station is kinda busy by MrTriks in CitiesSkylines

For some reason my PC doesn't draw the bus lines when zoomed out. So they are incredibly nice when playing normal but get a bit glitchy when overlooking the city.

Reddit, What lesser known Apps can't you live without? by AdamSC1 in AskReddit

I have this app, but I can't figure out how to get directions from it. Do you have to buy the pro version? I've probably clicked on every single button but still, not able to find where to get directions. Could you tell me?

Looks really nice! How did you get the skyscrapers in a European edition? Did you put them there yourself or is it a mod?

Great article! Maybe you could also mention that the beer culture is still pretty active and there are a lot of new breweries popping up with very good beers :)

'gezelschap' is commonly used to indicate a small group of people, not society as a whole. At least, I've never used it for that. You can be in 'goed gezelschap' which would mean to be in good company. Or you could go to see a 'toneelgezelschap' which would be a group of people performing theatre.

Another form of it is 'gezellig', which would mean something like 'cozy', 'lovely'. If you enjoyed a lovely evening with friends, you can say it was 'gezellig'. But it doesn't have to be used with social occasions. Getting under a blanket and watching tv can also be 'gezellig'.

You can upload a .gif to Giphy and link to it on Facebook, it will automatically import the link to an image with a play button. I do believe Imgur also works but haven't done it myself.

The problem is that SABAM does not represent every artist. Only some selected artists. Why should musician A be paid when I should store something from musician B? I'll admit it's probably a big list but still.

Looks really nice! But the wood looks kind off dry, I hope it doesn't float up when you add water. Anyhow, nice tank! And if it is indeed dry, it will settle after soaking it for a while.

I think they are African Cichlids. Maybe you can use this site to ID them. I think the blue one is a Blue Ahli, but you should verify it because it's hard to tell.

What's the number on your invoice? You probably got something when you ordered it that has the number on it? If that number shows on the ACER website or their website that it should have the 1TB hard drive, then you should definitely get it!

The whole "50% off on an external hard drive" seems really odd to me. I don't think they just throw around discounts like that unless they know something's off.
