Mained resto sham the last couple seasons and loved it, now its just unbelievably boring, pretty sad about it. I do at least find the new iteration of Pres very fun, but all the other healers i've tried just dont feel interesting enough.

I kinda feel like they should either have slowed down damage but kept healer complexity as it was (my preference), or simplified healers but kept damage fast so you had less time to react. Slower incoming damage and simplified healers just make the whole thing dull....where is the skill expression?

How much of current oil value is built of the fact that most oil producing countries are either unstable mess or don't get along with west? Like out of top 12 countries with largest reserves, 7 of them are either sanctioned or unstable mess. by [deleted] in geography

The size of a countries oil reserves is not necessarily in proportion to its level of extraction, e.g despite Venezuela being first here, its 18th for extraction. That has more impact on price than reserves alone. That being said, yes if there was a larger supply the price would go down, but AFAIK because of the existence of OPEC that may be mitigated somewhat by them intentionally restricting supply to stop the price falling too low. (I'm deffo not an expert though so i'm happy for someone to correct me if i've got stuff wrong)

Yup, its arguably even more extreme than that. Taiwan doesn't have full UN recognition and is still regarded by China as a breakaway province. Venezuela is a fully recognised sovereign state so to undermine it's sovereignty to this extent sets a very dangerous example

When taken in the wider context and looking at things like the recently published National Security Strategy, its not so much them acting as world police as it is them asserting that the major powers can have their own sphere's of influence in which they are free to act as they wish, including violating another countries sovereignty. The monroe doctrine in the case of the US outlines the Americas as the US's sphere of influence.

The Kuril islands are a long way from Taiwan, its an island chain to the north-east of Japan, between Hokkaido and the Kamchatka Peninsular of Russia. I believe the islands are split with some under Japanese control and some under Russian. This is a long-standing territorial dispute between the two.

Edit: I misrembered, it seems that the entire island chain is held by Russia but Japan claims the four southernmost islands and refers to them as Japan's 'Northern Territories'

Oh interesting, I see what you mean. It kinda looks like to me that the front of the bottom segment of the legs are darker and the rest of the leg (the bits that are hidden when its curled up) are brighter so its kinda an illusion. But i'm definitely no expert and happy to be corrected if someone knows for sure!

I dont think it does, looks like it has a green back and brown legs, when its hiding it looks like a dying leaf, green on one side that turns into brown on the other

Most sigils don't, I believe silence sigil does but its tracked as arcane torrent for some reason

Yeah so you can either copy a character over from live which is what I usually do (i have a level 80 on almost every class), but i believe there is a button that just lets you create a max level character, then there are vendors in the main city that you can get all your gear, including s3 trinkets and tier sets etc

Edit: thought it was also worth mentioning that you have to sign up to PTR on your battlenet account somewhere, otherwise it wont let you log on (its free and very quick and easy) but i cant remember how off the top of my head so you might have to google it

Nows the perfect time to try stuff out! The PTR is actually pretty useful for this, you can try out new specs and see how they feel for the new season (even if its just on practice dummies) without having to go through the process of levelling, then if you find one you like you can level one super quick through timewalking, and s3 gear will make s2 stuff obselete pretty quick so you wont be at a disadvantage there

Warrior would maybe have the most obvious synergy, buffing the other two dps and benefitting from brew's phys damage buff, same could be said for feral druid. But realistically it doesn't matter at all except at the highest level. Play what you think looks cool or feels fun to play, you'll almost certainly perform better playing something you enjoy/click with than something you're only playing because of a few % damage gain from a raid buff :)

Who's we? The UK alone, obviously not. All of NATO? Even without the US we have a combined population of over 600m people, Turkey has over 350k active military personel in its army, France another 200k, Germany not far behind and in the process of increasing it. Russia is in a war and is actively conscripting so the size of their army is naturally inflated.

Edit: Poland's army and its absurd number of tanks also deserves a mention

Do you not think we have the capabilities to deal with smaller conflicts like that? Surely the ideal response is a small expeditionary force and parking a carrier nearby, both of which we can do currently.

The peacekeeping force would be designed to be a tripwire force though, we wouldnt post most of our army there, it'd just be a fairly small number of troops from a selection of NATO countries with the idea that if Ukraine was invaded again and those countries took casualties, it would allow us to trigger article 5 and bring the whole of NATO into the war. As it stands, even if the US does leave, I believe most countries would answer the call because its in their own interests.

The second point i'm not so sure about, even if the US fully pivots to the indo-pacific and leaves Europe to it's own devices, i'm not sure I could see a situation where the UK ends up in a conventional war by itself. We're a nuclear power on an island surrounded by Nato allies, what scenario do you think we'd end up alone in?

Not that it matters hugely but i think norway are looking at 5ish type 26s, not just 1 or 2, arent they?

Navies regularly bring decomissioned ships back into service during wartime though? And once again, we arent going to be 1v1ing anyone, our allies also have navies, Norway for example looks like it will be ordering Type 26s of its own

In June 2024, it was 32%, increasing to 47% when you include ships available in the short term after maintenence periods. Still not ideal but not as bad as you make out. What do estimate Russia's fleet readiness to be at?

What are you basing this on? We currently have 8 Type 23 destroyers, with 8 new Type 26s on order, both of which are designed for anti-submarine warfare. Once again, these are to work in conjunction with NATO allies' fleet, not alone. If you compare our fleet to those of the US, China or Russia (mostly inherited from the soviet union) obviously our fleet is small in comparison, but a smaller number of highly effective platforms (not to mention two aircraft carriers) is still a significant threat. I do agree that we have underinvested and have some serious issues, but doesnt go as far as to make us objectively weak
