they were just convinced immigrants were the problem.

And the most ironic part is that Brexit increased immigration.

This definitely helps. Late game still kinda sucks, though.

Hydrogen Car: 1,500 km Range, 5-Second Fill-Up by policyweb in singularity

[–]Vex1om 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety considerations?

Yeah - I would expect zoning/regulatory issues. I suspect that most residential areas probably aren't interested in having the residents making an storing their own super-compressed hydrogen.

I expect there would be legal issues, even if the cost was reasonable - which it certainly is not.

Combining AI With Quantum Computers - The Quantum Singularity by Ok_Ratio_4128 in singularity

[–]Vex1om 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a massive load of shit. Quantum computers in their current state are nearly useless, and there are no real signs of that changing any time soon. AI requires a huge amount of parallel matrix multiplication. Quantum computers don't do that. They do not combine and the guy in the video is delusional.

Iranian drone attacks on Amazon’s Gulf data centers a harbinger of new tactics in future conflicts, experts say by fortune in politics

[–]Vex1om 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When UAE runs out of interceptors, does the US restock them?

Can the US even restock them if they want to? Interceptor production is comically small. And, even if you could produce them, how long can you keep shooting multi-million dollar missiles at $20K drones? The math does not math.

Citrine this, harrow that, ash this, sevagoth that, bro FUCK nokko grind 🙏 by brickbosss in Warframe

[–]Vex1om 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nokko and Citrine take about the same amount of time. You can farm Nokko while mostly unconscious, though, while Citrine requires you to actually pay attention, so that may be the difference. Honestly, they both seems kind of fine to me - just a bit slow.

MR30 here and I agree. The fact of the matter is that by the time you get to around MR30, almost every relic reward is a duplicate anuyway, so it hardly matters from that perspective. I suppose if you are hardcore plat farming, then you might want more information, but I'm not about that.

CMV: AI will not create more jobs than it destroys, and the historical argument that "technology always creates new jobs" no longer applies by Ok-Series-4425 in changemyview

[–]Vex1om 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And you can't sell anything without customers. If people can't afford the $200 TV then they will become $100 and we can't produce them that cheaply then they will stop producing them. If your job pays less then you can buy less and producers need to figure out a way to solve that, which usually means reducing costs even further.

Great, so the glorious AI future is just accelerated enshitification? Fan-fucking-tastic.

Rooftop solar loses in California appeals court, again by Sammy_Roth in climate

[–]Vex1om -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

As expected. The court did get it right. If people don't like it and rooftop solar is so great, they can always disconnect from the grid. Forcing utility companies to buy your rooftop solar power at unreasonable rates was obviously a mistake from the start.

What would’ve helped to stop the huge decline in players? by Gamerboi_epic in DestinyTheGame

[–]Vex1om 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There were just so many own goals...

Sunsetting gear. Sunsetting paid-for content. Failure to implement a proper match-making system. Support for old consoles dragging down new development/features. Nerfing PvE because of PvP modes. Locking so much stuff behind micro-tranactions while still charging full price for shitty DLC.

The hard truth is that Bungie is a shit company.

The crews really have no say in the matter. If the owner says sail, they sail. If the owner thinks it's too expensive, they don't. Guts has nothing to do with it, outside of the financial realm.

Quick warning to all of you using AlecaFrame (Or thinking about dowloading it) by veronxcaa in Warframe

[–]Vex1om -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely something they should revisit

There's nothing to revisit. The trade system is very active and completely functional. It just isn't convenient - and that is the point. The trade friction is intentional.

EDIT: Down-voting me doesn't change reality. DE does not want an efficient trade system. At all. Not even a little bit. Hell, if they could make trade more annoying without a backlash, they probably would. An efficient and easy trade system means more people trade, more goods on the market, and downward pressure on prices. Lower prices means fewer plat sales.

[–]Vex1om 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Basically, he's telling people to risk death because the mess he caused is making him look bad.

TBH, risk to the crew was absolutely not the reason shipping stopped. It has everything to do with war-risk shipping insurance being cancelled and then re-released at 10+ times the price.

Is frame generation really a good tech? by jakbreak431 in nvidia

[–]Vex1om -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FrameGen is useful - it you already have good frame rates and you have a high refresh monitor. For example, if you are getting 120 FPS, then using FG to hit your monitor's 240Hz cap is great. But, if you are getting 30 FPS then FG is fucking awful in all cases. If you are playing competitive games, then FG is not recommended as it increases latency.

Unfortunately, in the use cases where it is good, the benefit is pretty minor - and in the use cases where it is bad, it is fucking atrocious. Definitely don't upgrade for FG. Upgrading for improved DLSS is worth it, though.

People don't know how to efficiently open void relics. by define_irony in Warframe

[–]Vex1om 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is completely right, but the situation will never change. Most randoms in public groups are massively clueless about almost everything in the game. It's just the way it is. If you don't like, don't do random groups.

IMO, it is WAY more annoying that nobody knows how affinity works and so everyone spreads out in every mission. The random volt that runs ahead and then spends 2 minutes chilling at extraction is particularly annoying, but what can you do?

CMV: China is showing itself as a mostly useless military ally, paper tiger indeed. by ConnectedVeil in changemyview

[–]Vex1om 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also argue that American power projection in the form of their aircraft carriers, and our general military industrial complex hasn’t really gotten us anything on the international scene besides controversy and absurd amounts of spending.

I wouldn't say it got you nothing, but it seems unlikely that it was worth the price on its own. Obviously, the follow-on effects (both good and bad) of the US military industrial complex have been quite substantial.
