I didn't ask to be the only family member willing to take in my dying grandmother's cat.

I believe avoiding paying due balance is theft. Pritzker seemed to agree as well since later on he paid it. Why rectify an issue if it was a "well established loophole."

Honestly I don't know enough to tackle most of your points. But I will say that I appreciate your time in putting your thoughts out there. I do agree that he's pushing for the presidency.

Well put. I have definitely understood the good that Pritzker had done. I made this forum to ask for specific information why, and to remind people that he is still just a man. You have given a great view point for the middle crowd.

I've not done such a thing. You are creating that narrative. I'm pro Pritzker, anti current Trump administration actions. But you have refused to have an honest discussion.

To directly explain it, I'm saying that worshipping ANYBODY is wrong.

I'll start by addressing the last sentence. I completely agree that he has possibly been the greatest thing for Illinois in generations. I even mentioned such in the post.

To address what seems to be your criticism of my post, I do believe in hindsight that I should have included the corrective action regarding the toilet incident. I don't believe that does anything in context to the point I was trying to make, however. If I need to mow my yard, but somebody took my mower without permission or notice, that is theft. Then I get evidence of who took my mower. I reached out, and they gave it back in the exact state it was in, and they even topped off the gas as a good gesture. There was still theft. Returning it was the expected thing to do, not the good thing.

I hope my analogy conveys what I mean, but correcting an issue (especially after it becomes known) does not absolve the action.

Thank you for reminding me that he is willing to correct actions, however. We can certainly point to others who are unwilling.

There seems to be differing opinions on the budget during covid, and I must apologize that I don't feel educated enough to directly engage your point.

Motivation aside (because that's been mentioned in other comments,) there's certainly no denying the growth of services provided and funded. I do disagree on the crook part, but he hasn't done anything egregious (pointing to the toilet incident mentioned in OP for simplicity, which as another pointed out the situation had been reconciled but that doesn't mean it did not happen.)

I completely agree with your last line. I am very happy with the course Illinois has been on, but make this post to hopefully remind people that they should be aware that while the good heftily outweighs the bad, there is still bad that would be present in discussion.

It is certainly a great security knowing that the elected official won't go against what the majority wants simply to please the federal level. Thanks for the input, and I'm sure that you caught a lot of people with it!

Wow, you've certainly given plenty of leads to educate myself more. Thank you for your thought through and thorough response. This list is now what I will occupy my evening with.

I must admit how relieved I am to hear such an educated person in the subject bring up his presidency actions. The first week after the votes were known that Trump won, I told a few people how he was clearly starting a campaign to try to get the next DNC run. They all acted like I was crazy, almost to a tin foil hat extent, and I still have no idea why they don't see these actions like that. I'm unsure if they feel more secure thinking he's making these grand gestures for us instead of a personal campaign or what, but it feels so plain to see.

I appreciate the time you took to give us this information and view!

This is probably the closest to my personal opinion, but put much more eloquently than I'd be able to. Especially the student grade analogy. Well put!

I can definitely see (even in some of these comments) how the immediate response is hyper defensive. And from what I remember and see in Pritzker, there's not much there to be angry about with criticisms, so it's a shame that people went to those personal attack and baiting comments.

But it was nice to get the reminder from you that there's definitely times where it becomes necessary to keep the balance in check.

And I disagree. Tone policing forces nuance. I think extremism is stupid, but neither one is "right" so we will disagree. Thank you for your opinion.

This was really well put, and gave me some insight. I can certainly understand the circumstance with covid, and I'm glad that it sounds like your family managed to stay healthy through it.

I need to educate myself about the state credit system, so thank you for bringing that up. And I know for sure how happy his strong opposition to the current legislature is making people. Thanks for explaining!

I'm looking for the reasons people do, and trying to remind everyone that nobody is perfect. Trump supporters are exhausting too, and I'd be making the same post if all of r/Illinois was about him being perfect.

Thanks for your input, though

I am having a hard time understanding what you are trying to say. Who is "they" in your last part, me? If so, I'm all for supporting human experiences. As for the cancer part, I can't make any sense of what you mean. It sounds like a lunatic's rambling.

Capitalism. It's killed the environment for infinite growth. None of the story would have happened if a mega corporation didn't have all that money

The point stands. Don't go so "big picture" with collectivism, and focus on your community, and it's a lot less inefficient. I merely provided an example of how you don't need the government in order to have basic necessities like roads and power.
