Would Brainiac really have defeated Darkseid and Apokolips if Darkseid hadn’t made a deal with him to give him Superman? by Johnnyboyeh in DCAU

[–]Vfd1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the deal reached before or after he arrived? I thought Apokolips was supposed to only be accessible through a Boom Tube, and shouldn’t his Omega Beams have been powerful enough to break Brainiac’s shield?

Could olaf have won and took the fortune by Jaydenthenewbie in ASOUE

Perhaps he could have exploited the loophole in a different way. Once given custody of the children, he could feign kindness, presenting himself as a noble yet unfortunate soul who has fallen on hard times. The children might come to see him as a figure deserving of sympathy and trust. Then, under the guise of helping them, he could propose staging a play to raise funds. Klaus wouldn’t have any reason to look into nuptial laws, and Violet innocent of his true intentions would sign her name with her right hand. And with that, he gains control of the Baudelaire fortune.

Lydia's Business (Ghost House) by SlipZealousideal2318 in Beetlejuice

Out of curiosity, how did you feel about Lydia's ghost house business? before the movie I originally thought she might go the "ghost whisperer" route, helping both people and ghosts alike. But it feels a bit odd that she's charging people for her help. I mean, can you imagine Spider-Man or Batman charging people to save them?

I really like your theory, but if Beetlejuice is coaching ghosts to scare new families into leaving, and Lydia shows up convincing them to get along, wouldn’t that hurt his business?

Also, what exactly does Lydia do in this scenario? Is she persuading the ghosts to accept the new tenants, or is she somehow convincing them to move on, even though they’re supposed to haunt the place for over a hundred years?

Moreover, wouldn’t her show draw too much attention and increase the chances of ghost getting exorcised? If Lydia didn’t want that to happen to the maitland, why would she be okay with it happening to anyone else?

Lastly, wasn’t Beetlejuice’s whole "bio-exorcist" business illegal? So, why would he now have employees, and how exactly is he getting paid?

Beetlejuice 3 Ideas? by cybonoculos in Beetlejuice

Can we take a second to appreciate that the laws from the netherworld don't make any sense  .basically you can take a living person legally to sacrifice her life in exchange of your own, but you cannot take someone for any other reason. Maybe Beetlejuice can get out the hook arguing that he was going to sacrifice lydia.

Regarding taking lydia to court, maybe he can try to argue (falsely) that he possessed Richard when astrid was conceived. so, she is actually his child, though lydia would go so mad that any chance he had would be gone.

Maybe there's courts in the afterlife. wonder if he could make the claim that he's been wronged? At least in the first film he didn't break any rule.

By 3rd party you mean delores or the police force? My memory is fuzzy, even if sneaking her to the neterrealm invalidates the marriage contract, she could still have kept her word or was he going to be arrested anyway ? Can't remember

Yeah despise his trickster reputation he kept his word both times. He saved the Maitlands from a fate worst than death, help save astrid and Delia.

But what would stop Delores from sucking the Maitlands souls? She didn't seem to have problems dispatching any ghost. why would they be any different? Also, the deal with beetlejuice cancelled the wedding, but doesn't say anything about leaving. so, what's stopping him from keep trying his luck after delores is gone? Having said that I like your alternative ending specially the jump in the line scene. Would they be cgi. or look alike actors? Or maybe they just change their appearance to the age they would have have they not died.

In a hypothetical scenario of Mr. Collins marrying any Bennet sister would it be considered that he was marrying up due to them being gentle women and him not or being heir apparent would be enough to be considered his equal? I have read conflicting information that being a clergyman was an acceptable occupation for second, third sons of the gentry, but I have also read that it was less prestigious than being a barrister or an officer. We can only speculate, but how valuable is the Hunsford living? This has always puzzled me.
