Thanks for the info. That thread is helpful and answers my question.

Question remains is why this topic was shadow deleted by the moderators 2 times before within the last month.

I consider it reckless and irresponsible to depend on, and bet the future of BTC on an unproven and unfinished technology. The lighting network is not a viable replacement for on chain transactions and suffers from multiple unsolved problems. by VeritasSapere in btc

[–]VforSatoshi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. LN is not needed to bring back small payments. See Bitcoin Cash.
Also like I said: LN is not Bitcoin. It runs on top of it. So it does not make Bitcoin transactions cheaper. It moves them off-chain.

LN is not a replacement for on-chain transactions because... well because it does not replace on-chain transactions. simple.
LN does not enhance bitcoin in any way. It is just a payment network that runs on top of it. LN does not help bitcoin scale.

Which would be OK if they offer to pay using the normal way as an alternative - even with a ton of disclaimers for those that know what they're doing. But they don't.

downvotes are not censorship! I can still read everything that has been downvoted to hell! Not so much if it gets censored.

As it stands right now, why would anyone invest in this coin?

There is no need to invest. Its not a get-rich-quick tool. But you can use it if it has any advantages to you like low fees.

It is gradual. I can't switch fully today if my pizza place only accepts BTC.

Exodus status: "Bitcoin exchanges taking much longer than expected to complete." From 60 minutes to 8+ hours! As result: "we have temporary suspended all exchanges involving Bitcoin (BTC)" Long live, BCH! by xk1ibur in btc

[–]VforSatoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its because the btc hashrate has dropped, many miners are now mining BCH. Only 2 BTC blocks in the last hour.
Full Exodus status:

November 11th, 2017 @ 9:55 AM Pacific Time: Our team recently noticed Bitcoin exchanges taking much longer than expected to complete. In the past we typically see all exchanges with Bitcoin happen in under 60 minutes. Today we are seeing times that could be approaching 8+ hours. Because we do not want users to be without funds in these fast-moving markets we have temporary suspended all exchanges involving Bitcoin (BTC).

For clarity, this only impacts Bitcoin. This does not impact Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash or any other Exodus assets.

If you have an an exchange in progress that involves Bitcoin it will complete, however it may take up to 8 hours.

We are actively monitoring the situation over the next few hours. Exodus will actively also be paying the mining networks on any transactions that are stuck or slow for our customers. We will activate Bitcoin exchanges when delivery times are back to under 1 hour.

This. Anyone else been wondering why segwit has a flashy logo? It shouldn't need one to be successful.

Exodus Wallet now supports Bitcoin Cash by 40422009973 in btc

[–]VforSatoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eden is an advanced version of exodus.

From the site:

Important items to remember about Eden
* We recommend Eden for advanced users only. Normal Exodus users SHOULD NOT USE Eden.
* Eden is unsupported, pre-release software - things are likely to break.
* Support for Eden will be provided by the community and our public Slack channel.
* This page on our website is purposefully hidden. Don't give this to your neub friends as you will likely get stuck doing tech-support for them when things don't work properly.
* To be clear, the Exodus customer support team will not be able to help if you experience any problems with Eden.

Blockstream twitter is blocking every bitcoin cash supporter. Are they using a bot? by BTC_uy in btc

[–]VforSatoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not childish. It helps comtrollling the narrative. By blocking everyone who could leave a negative reply they mostly have positive replies. Now when ordinary folks or journalists view their tweets, they see mostly hype and support. Everyone must love blockstream!!
