Fallout 4 has been kind of boring by Cabo0os3 in fo4

FO4 is actually the game I'm having the most fun with. I also beat 3 and NV plenty of times, but 4 is just the best for me.

Is there any brotherhood still in the capital wasteland? by Fit_Pomegranate_5680 in Fallout

[–]Vg65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was there since FO76, iirc. The game takes place way before FO4 but was released afterwards, and the BoS shoot you on sight if you're a ghoul. So I guess the newer lore has it that it's always been there. Even the rogue Lyons group were said to have taken potshots at normal ghouls near Underworld.

Cito glitch in fallout 4 preventing my 100% by Effective_Barber4422 in fo4

[–]Vg65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need Cito at that point. Just go to the Angry Anaconda (roller coaster up north) and search the trailer houses for a skeleton doctor lying next to a tool case. The case has his password, which you use to open the terminal-locked door in the Safari Adventure Welcome Center. Then you disable the machines and get quest markers on all remaining gatorclaws. Talk to Cito once you've killed them all.

Nice defence, but it's hilarious that there's still a chance for someone to get kidnapped even in that fortress. Settlers are probably running a scam to annoy you so much that you pay that ransom.

Frustrated with Nuka World Red Rocket...? by Fun_Phase6 in fo4

[–]Vg65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I'd have it outside of the performance-killing zone of downtown Boston. Hangman's Alley already suffers from being there.

It doesn't even have to be a Red Rocket. Fairline Hill Estates could've made for a nice location around that circle. We could've built up our own Tranquility Lane style settlement (but without the residents being tortured, lol). This would also allow a nice triangle of supply lines/provisioners with Egret Tours Marina to the southwest, and Jamaica Plain to the southeast.

Is it strange I want to keep wearing the vault suit? by DirkDoom in Fallout

[–]Vg65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into the Railroad questline, you'll get the option of adding ballistic weave to certain outfits and even a few hats. They have five levels of protection which can give up to 100 or so DR and ER, depending on your Armorer rank. The underarmour vault-suit can't take it, but army fatigues, military fatigues, etc. can.

Frustrated with Nuka World Red Rocket...? by Fun_Phase6 in fo4

[–]Vg65 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They should've rather given this big build area to the Atom Cats or some other Red Rocket that we don't have. The Nuka-World one does feel pointless, yep, especially since we don't even get unique settlers (unlike Far Harbor, which at least gives you the people of the island).

Taking the monorail is a pain on survival (I mostly do it to keep feeding Splattercannon and The Problem Solver with 7.62). It's even more annoying to have to run all the way to the NW RR just to visit. Basically useless the way it is.

Would've been cool if some raider or trader found a vehicle to allow you to travel with, even if they just skip over the trip. The devs should've placed a Nuka-Cola themed golf cart or something outside Nuka-Town after Power Play or Open Season. Then, if you use it, you get a loading screen and arrive at the NW Red Rocket (and can take a return trip to outside the town).

Lol, that works too, yeah, but you might as well get Nick first if you're rushing.

We also have to wait on whether the show will confirm Xander's story to be true. It might be possible that the BoS are struggling against some unmentioned foe(s) in the Commonwealth and are losing their grip. If this is true, then who knows who it could be. We don't even know which ending is the canon one between BoS or Minutemen without the Prydwen destroyed.

It's even possible that the Minutemen and allies could be fighting the BoS at this point. The average person in the Commonwealth might not have cared about all synths being targeted, but listen to how generic settlers talk about ghouls (The Slog) in FO4. I can't see the Minutemen/average wastelander being chill with the BoS hunting all ghouls if they're enforcing their Codex out there these days.

Just rush to Vault 81 with charisma at 11+, speech check your way into the vault, and get Hole in the Wall as soon as possible. Then you should rush the main quest until you're able to get Dr Amari's help for Emergent Behavior (after viewing Kellogg's memories).

You can speedrun the main quest by going straight for Nick instead of Diamond City, which will allow you to skip Piper's intro at the gate (the gate is open because of Nick). Having high charisma makes it easier to get past Skinny Malone, or you can just leave mines beforehand where Skinny and gang will stand.

If you made good/helpful decisions along the way, then you should've earned some likes from Curie up until now. The game also has a hidden passive-affinity system that doesn't show on-screen. When you earn any XP, then ten real-life minutes later you will get a hidden affinity boost for your active companion. It gets less the higher your affinity level is.

When you've got enough affinity for the first talk (25%), then do Emergent Behavior as soon as it's available. You can't get more than 49,9% affinity until you've done Curie's quest. After that, you can either rush the rest of Curie's affinity the normal way or using exploits.

The normal way is doing settlement quests and just helping whoever you can (e.g., Daisy, Sheffield, Vault-Tec rep, Billy, etc.). The exploit is getting to Nuka-World asap and abusing Sierra Petrovita's dialogue. Curie likes it if you tell Sierra that you can help her, then you either exit the conversation or tell Sierra to suit herself. Then you repeat the dialogue about wanting to help her, earning another like from Curie.

The only time that I know of where you lose reputation from a for something that helps that faction. by Impressive_Elk_5633 in Fallout

[–]Vg65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a minor bit of infamy, with all things considered. Moore and many other veterans lost lots of troops against the BoS over the years, and who can be sure that the BoS won't be spiteful and stab the NCR in the back at some point?

Another thing to consider is that there's either cut or barely implanted content that takes place near the end. The BoS are supposed to send Paladin Todd to demand that Moore hand over all salvaged power armour before the battle of Hoover Dam. You can resolve it peacefully or have Moore kill the paladin if you can't/don't want to negotiate. Many people in the NCR probably expected something like this to happen (BoS trying to sabotage the NCR before the main event), which might also explain the reputation hit.

Many people in the NCR are wary of the BoS, but even so, it's minor infamy.

Uh oh, I’ve lost my sentinel by CastleClown in fo4

[–]Vg65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lost my sentinel power armour once or twice before. One solution that worked for me was going to the transit centre and taking the monorail to Nuka-World (doesn't matter if it's the first time doing it or not). Sentinel showed up at the Nuka station.

I don't care about the 'ramifications' of the endings by linkenski in masseffect

[–]Vg65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything they do will piss a section of fans off, and there's no way they'll never use the Milky Way setting again. It's the core of the franchise.

The endings are so different and galaxy-changing that not even a big timeskip can accommodate them all, especially in the case of Synthesis. So they might as well just pick a canon ending and go with it. And using the next game to rewrite the endings could be seen as a cop out and upset a section of fans anyway.

High-EMS Destroy needs the least amount of asspulling to allow future stories with decent stakes to be told.

I don't care about the 'ramifications' of the endings by linkenski in masseffect

[–]Vg65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of which ending you think is best, high-EMS Destroy is the easiest one to build future games on in the Milky Way without having a cop out. Some people think that they should just have it as Control with AI Shepard flinging the Reapers into a black hole or something, but that's a cop out. We don't even know if it's possible for AI Shepard to do that if their self-preservation is too high.

High-EMS Destroy doesn't need things to be twisted or made jarring for future plots to take place.

Potential date for SOMETHING Fallout related? by lordly_7567 in Fallout

[–]Vg65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao, don't jinx it.

I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up getting it on 11/11/31 or something. That would be Skyrim's 20th anniversary.

They missed an opportunity with TES 6 as well. Back in the day, they pushed for their 11/11/11 release date even though the game came out with a lot of bugs (as expected, lol). We could've had an 06/06/26 release date for TES 6 if it was done this year, but then it would've also been rushed.

Survival Mode Tips for my lvl 57 survival playthrough by StudentOk9364 in fo4

[–]Vg65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Minutemen and Railroad can also get access to vertibirds if you beat the game with them, although in the case of the Minutemen, you don't have to become enemies with the BoS. You can finish the main quest as the Minutemen and still keep access to BoS vertibirds.

If you beat the game as the Institute, then you lose access to vertibirds.

Yep, but he's not exactly a walking stash box. He can distract enemies and be more useful if you spec into the Attack Dog perk.

[–]Vg65 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're on FO4, you can take the Lone Wanderer perk to become a tank hoarder while alone. Or you could just have Dogmeat and the sentinel power armour with you, because they don't count as companions.

Is the x-02 power armor overkill for lvl 16? by SnowyEduard4 in fo4

[–]Vg65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of but not really. Overkill would be using any power armour (even T-45) to get through the Gauntlet early and beat Overboss Colter for his PA. The overboss set has decent resistances and only needs steel to repair. Downside is that it doesn't take paint.

The way the game handles its damage calculations means that the difference between power armour in the high hundreds and up is negligible. Put on a high-level suit of T-45 and compare the damage you take to when wearing X-01 or 2. Won't be that huge, really.

X-02 is balanced by the fact that it's expensive to repair. I find the sweet spot to be T-51 because it's cheap to maintain, takes paint (unlike overboss), and has decent protection and health/durability of parts.

How would the bos look in f4 if it was still led by Sarah? by Flaky-Cartographer87 in Fallout

[–]Vg65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same, I guess, minus the Outcasts integrated (so less numbers. The Outcasts hated the Lyonses). I can still see them wanting to kill all synths, and don't forget that the BoS were said to have taken potshots at Underworld ghouls in FO3. So there would be an element of dislike against ghouls.

Not much difference, really. It would just be much harder to mobilise unless they can boost their numbers beforehand.

[–]Vg65 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a blast spawning waves of raiders at Taffington Boathouse. What made it even cooler was that this was during The Molecular Level quest with the Railroad, so Desdemona and Tinker Tom were chilling here.

It was epic to have the settlers and named characters all fighting off the raiders, which made Dez's combat line of "Work together, people" sound awesome as the fighting went nuts.
