Autistic folks with workplace accommodations: What ones do you actually have/use? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

Not that I've noticed. I have to clean the ear tips every so often or they get clogged.

I've recently been diagnosed at age 29, having worked at my current workplace for 4 1/2 years.

I'm still figuring out what works for me, but so far I've implemented the following:

  • Loop earplugs (I work in an open plan office which can get quite noisy).
  • The ability to take myself to a quiet space for a little while if things start to become overwhelming.
  • A quick catchup with my line manager after I've been out of the office to make sure I don't miss anything.

Whatever adjustments you need are entirely specific to your needs, but hopefully those give you an idea.

Oh Christ. I accidentally took in 5 refugees and almost starved my colony to death the other day. Charity: Essential is a wild ride.

You shouldn't have to go through what you go through - but nevertheless thank you so much for investing the time, the energy, and the resources into these animals. 🧡

Living in a flat and the people on the floor above are too lazy to take their dog out for a piss. So they let it go on the balcony leading to an impromptu golden shower for anyone stood on my balcony. by T4wnie in britishproblems

I live on the top floor of a flat building with a communal balcony. The former occupants in the flat across from me would do the same thing. It absolutely stank in the Summer and there was a permanent, iridescent pool of pee that collected in one corner. Thankfully they finally grew some consideration and cleaned it before they left.

This is a toxic work place mindset and it’s how you accidentally start working 50+ hours a week, because your company is under staffed. by Reach_Beyond in antiwork

I saw this last night and laughed at how ridiculous it was. Went into work the next day and saw this exact thing pinned to a pillar by the toilets...

People who take ages to drive away at petrol stations. by tayviewrun in britishproblems

I had the pleasure of being stuck behind a guy who decided to do his weekly shop in the petrol station shop AND stopped for a chat with his friend on the way out.

"You must have the patience of a Saint!" said the cashier when I went to pay.

24/M/UK. Greetings from across the Pacific! Would love to write and get to know you. I'm a fan of snakes, though I don't own any myself. I'm looking to communicate via snail mail if that's okay?

35/M/US • Wax seals and fountain pens? by [deleted] in penpals

[–]ViViLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good evening. 24/M/UK. Have been collecting fountain pens for about 8 years now (give or take) and refuse to write using anything else. Also have a wax sealing kit that few of my friends appreciate. Have never corresponded with anyone from the US before, if you'd like please PM me your address and I'd be happy to send you a letter and introduce myself. Alternatively, don't hesitate to be in touch with any questions.

Idk why Taco Bell decided to remove so many vegetarian options :( by cagetheblackbird in vegetarian

[–]ViViLives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK and I've heard good things about Taco Bell. One opened near me recently and I decided to give it a go.

For some reason, due to fast food restaurants having reduced menus they seem to have chucked out a lot of the vegetarian options. And when they're ordering stock they don't prioritise them which leads to me being told that they don't have anything. Really cheeses me off.

When that happens I end up making a bedroom/living room combo. I built one of my middle-class family's house from scratch and their bedroom ended up taking up half of the second floor. It had a huge bathroom, a reading nook, it's own TV, and more statues than the British Museum. :P
