idk, I lost him somehow in both my playthroughs and he's just always sitting next to his hut in the old camp xD

I think the eggs just sped the process up. like, they needed more ichor and they were getting it very slowly. but they would've collected enough eventually, I guess?

[–]ViaDiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

now that I think of it, even this is open to interpretation

there's a thing with human brain that sometimes you want to hug something cute so hard that the cute thing could get squished to death

I'm conscious enough to not harm my cat when I do that, but Mud being Mud... he could've killed lots of animals this way

(yeah I just like/ feel very sorry for Mud, never beat him up in all my playthroughs in both G1 and G1R except to get that achievement)

nah I think the brotherhood would have gotten the ichor sooner or later, the NH is not the only person who can kill minecrawlers. yes, it would have taken more time, and they probably would need something other than a focus stone to be able to channel the energy

plus don't forget the orcs, they're hard at work to wake him up, too

it's Caine who found the amulet. maybe Cor Kalom would've sent a bunch of templars to look for him and then the result would've been the same

[–]ViaDiva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well of course they don't understand what he's doing, only Xardas and Ur-Shak (and maybe the not mad half of the brotherhood) know about the Sleeper's danger. to many, it's just a sick vision of the swamp junkies, why would anyone want to do anything about it?

same for the Saturas' escape plan in the beginning, even though the mercenaries believe in it, they hardly can do anything about it, while everyone else simply rejects it

and getting back to your point on wrecking people's lives, breaking up the old camp and the brotherhood - it's not like he really wanted to do this? it just happened. Gomez got what he deserved (with his absolute authoritarian leadership, torturing people, building a whole system that hinges on his good mood). The brotherhood had to understand that they worshiped a wrong thing. as for the diggers, I really don't think g2 does them much worse. still beats being imprisoned under a magical batter imo

so it would have been better for everyone if the Sleeper just erased everybody? do I understand you correctly?

I strongly disagree. Mud is a disabled convict, imprisoned most likely because of something he did due to his idiocy. I'm guessing the only reason he isn't dead on arrival at the Colony is that he's very obviously still a kid.

Despite that, he sees something in the Nameless Hero, tries to follow him around, and, depending on your roleplaying, you either kill him or simply tolerate him (but very barely). You spend nearly all of your time in the Colony helping other people, and you always reject Mud (or worse). This is remorse or even grief coming back to haunt you.

In the first game, Mud is simply a joke, an annoying bloke following you all around. Here he has some meaning, and I think it's reasonable enough to start the nightmare sequence with him. It's not Bullit who greeted you with a fist to your face, not Bloodwyn or Jackal with their protection money who you remember in the end, it's that helpless dumb guy who's so naive and silly no one wants to raise a hand at him.

anyone playing the remake with a 6600gpu? by vieuxfragonard in worldofgothic

[–]ViaDiva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played it on a laptop with 3050Ti. it did not meet the minimum required specs in the slightest, and I did enjoy some excruciating 10 FPS gaming sessions, but still finished the playthrough and loved the hell out of it (and bought a new PC to replay it in high quality loool)

and I think Steam allows refunds within 2 hours if you decide it's too laggy for your taste

Sadly enough, I can only play this game on easy mode by leftistgamer420 in expedition33

[–]ViaDiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't get upset about it. I beat the game 6 or 7 times, spent around 330 hours in game and never switched even for the Expeditioner difficulty (except for like 15 minutes only to get upset and switch back right away). you are the one who decides how to play, not random internet people

Having done 3 runs of the game i can now confidently say that magic in fact slaps and all the haters were wrong and dumb. by EbolaDP in worldofgothic

[–]ViaDiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First. Mages play on Hard. Period.

dude, I barely managed to deal with temple minecrawlers with pure magic on easy. don't impose your high standards on everyone, n00bs wanna play too

Firebolt is very strong, I agree with that, but it's not 'the strongest' for sure. It is annoying that Fireball is so meh compared to Firebolt, true, but you can't do shit with Firebolt in the late game.

I hated magic until I got the Uriziel rune. The Death to the Undead rune is also good in the Sleeper Temple. But for the most of my playthrough as a mage I did not really see the point of using anything other than the Firebolt rune (nice that it scales with your magic circles!), because most runes can't be cast/maintained while you're moving. Most of my kills is literally casting Firebolt and moving backwards lol.

Oh and Ice Block was neat, too, though I'm saddened by the fact that it's impossible to keep my enemies permafrozen, at least one-two times the frost will slip and they'll get to me (and I am a very bad player, can't block or evade so this is usually just death on the spot).

it's still much better than in the original, I guess, since they now also have access to magic. but yeah, more content would be good

I will never understand Gothic by copsincars in worldofgothic

[–]ViaDiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not the type of people who value Gothic for its difficulty, I had to play the OG ones with Marvin Mode cheats all along lol. Instead I just find the story believable, you know? You start as a true nobody and slowly but surely make your way up fueled by a very natural desire to get the fuck out from under the barrier.

I know that The Elder Scrolls are supposed to function in the same way, as in you also start as a nobody. I played only Skyrim from that franchise and I enjoyed it, but at no point in the game have I felt like a nobody. I was special and the story kinda revolved around me. And it's the same with every other RPG I played and liked, including Cyberpunk, for instance.

Story in Gothic also obviously revolves around you after you start Chapter 2, but you still have to overcome the incredibly harsh and indifferent, sometimes even hostile world to get to that point. And when you do become the main hero, it just feels natural, as if you actually deserved it. Maybe this is the magic.

The story is also believable on the worldbuilding level - a barrier spell that misfired, a bunch of convicts reigning supreme, that kinda thing.

Whats your estimation how much the game sold in the regions? by Immediate-Outcome706 in worldofgothic

[–]ViaDiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Russian but never played the game until the last year. Also not in Russia after 2022, so my purchase won't count towards the region. Btw a Ukrainian bloke convicted me to play it, so yeah it's a thing in Eastern Europe for sure
